Hi,
My maiden name is also La Porte. I have searching for years trying to find ancestors. My grandfather was Joseph La Porte and was born in Montreal around 1848. I don't know when he came to Detroit or when he married my grandmother but all their children were born and raised in Detroit. My father George was one of the younger ones. I am actually the youngest grandchild. Both my grandparents died in 1922 and are buried in Detroit. I know the names of all or most of my father's brothers and sisters and most are from the metro Detroit area but have not been able to find any further info. Sure would appreciate finding somebody from my heritage.
