Trying to locate descendants of Sotero Lara. He was the father of Margarito Lara who married Donaciana Rangel. Margarito was born around 1875 (according to his death certificate) and 1882 (on the WWI registration form). Margarito and Donanciana lived around the Laredo area. I don't know when Sotero Lara was born. On Margarito Lara's death certificate it shows the Luis Mata farm and on his WWI registration it shows he worked at the James Moore Ranch.
Donanciana Rangel's sister, Francisca Rangel, married Simon Lara and a brother, Luciano Rangel, married Sara Lara. I don't know if Margarito Lara, Simon Lara and Sara Lara are related.

Sara Flores Lara, 91, died Sept. 22, 2007, in Phelan. She resided in Phelan for 15 years.
Sara was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico. She was formerly employed by Barlow Hospital in Los Angeles for 27 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Leticia L. Guillen of Phelan, granddaughter Leticia Bowen of Palmdale, grandson Justin Cramer of San Diego and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road in Victorville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Junipero Serra Roman Catholic Church, 9281 Sheep Creek Road in Phelan, with Frank DiCristina officiating.
Cremation will be at Desert View Memorial Park.
Desert View Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

I have a picture of Ramon Lara, Felipe Lara and Manuel Mendoza. Looks like one of them is playing an accordian. The picture was given to my grandparents, Saragoza Lara Rangel and Pilar Cerda Cardona and it says "para mis primos" "de sus primos" ( trans.- for my cousins, from your cousins). They appear to be young men at the time it was taken. The picture could have been taken in the 30's or 40's, maybe later.
I would really like to know exactly how they are related to my family -to my grandfather and maybe my grandmother.
My grandfather was baptised in Nuevo Laredo in 1905. His father was Luz (Luciano?) Rangel and his mother Sara Lara.

Hi, I just wanted to let you and others looking for a Margarito Lara know that there is one listed in the World War I records. He is listed as 36 years old (date of birth June 18, 1882) and in Webb County, Texas. He is working as farm labor on the Sames/Moore farm and with the nearest relative listed as Donanciana Rangel.
Also listed in 1930 Webb Co. census, Justice Precinct 6, Ed. District #25.
And for others looking for Laras, there are some buried in the cemetery in Goliad, Texas in La Bahia near the Fannin monument behind the Mission.

My great-grandmother, Maria Manuella Lara, married my great-granfather Guadalupe Luna, in San Antonio on Dec. 12, 1868. The only record data that i have on her is that she died in 1893, born @ 1850. On both g-grandparents, we hit a dead end at their existence. We don't have any info before them. any help would be appreciated, and we have a full family tree on the Luna side. I am trying to find out information on Frank Hernandez Lara, my husband's father. He was born February 28, 1929 and died January 3rd, 1972. He was buried in Sawtell Soldier's Cemetery in California. Vandelio Lara

1939-2003

Vandelio "Bobby" Lara, 63, of Cheyenne, died Dec. 7 in Cheyenne.

He was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Cheyenne and had lived here most of his life.

Mr. Lara served in the Army in the 101st Airbourne.

He was a cement finisher for Cook-McCann Concrete, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Lara was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by two brothers, Gilbert Lara of Cheyenne and Richard Lara of Hartville;
and five sisters, Margaret Lucero of Cheyenne, Mary J. DeSilva of Puyallap, Wash.,
Maria E. Lara of Sacramento, Calif., Isabel Lara-Pahner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cris
Wenzel of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Victoria Lara; and a sister, Juanita
Schmit.

Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Peter Auer
as the celebrant.

Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Lara, Richard Lara, Rick Lara, Greg Lara, Todd Lara and
Robert Wenzel.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Friends may contribute to the Animal Shelter or a charity of their choice.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Lara.

Maria Margarita Lara married Jose Tomas Salcido, born before 1806 in Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her parents were Mariano Lara and Ana Delgado. Tomas Salcido and Margarita Lara had at least three children: Jose Francisco Carlos Salcido, born in 1826; Maria de Jesus Felipa Salcido, born in 1828; and Refugia Salcido, born about 1841. Looking for information on my grandpa Pete and grandma Crina.

Grandpa was born June 1880 in Chichua, Mexico and Grandma was born September ? in Juarez, Mexico. They lived in Niles, California and grandpa at one time had worked for the railroad. Grandma had 17 children. My dad is Raymond John Lara.

Does anyone out there have any information? If so, I sure would like to hear from you.

Just a stab in the dark - Is this name familiar to anyone? Cleofas Lara (Female) sported a handlebar moustache (which she trimmed and waxed), and had hazel eyes. She was born in Mexico in the middle of the 19th century and died in Hidalgo, Texas in early 1920's. Other names associated with Lara are: Gonzalez/Valenzuela/Barrera/Vela - north Mexico/South Texas. I have no other info re leofas. Anyone out there have female relatives with heavy facial hair? We could be related. Oh, yes..One family member owned a grocery store in San Anontio in early 1950's. Our family once stopped to visit as we were travelling "al norte".
