Hi Sheryl, you are correct I'm Danny's youngest brother. After my mother died I found a Lareau family tree, the tree dates back to 1817. The Lareaus' are an old family from the Chambly/St-Jean-sur-Richelieu area of Quebec. The first Lareau arrived in Quebec City in the early 1700's.
My Great Great Grandparents were Fabien (or FLAVIEN) Lareau born 1817 in Chambly QC and Julie Gauthier (No Birth Date) there son Noel (can't find date of birth) married Rose Anna Forget (b.1858). Noel and Rose Anna had 12 or 13 kids one being my grandfather Omer (b.1905).

Omer and Anna had 2 kids Jacqueline (b.1931) and Jacques (b.1928) Jacques married Lucille Marquette (b.1932) they had two kids (Lynn and Jacques).

Here's a link with some history of the Lareau family. http://moringenealogy.blogspot.com/2007/09/lareau-by-paul-j-...

If you want more details send me an email richardkapp at rogers dot com.

happy hunting

rich

Thanks for the information, Richard. I'm doing this family tree for my three nephews (my sister's kids), trying to get them interested in the French-Canadian side of their family since it's Quebec's 400th anniversary this year and all that. You must be my nephews' uncle on their father's side. Have you traced that side of your family back any further?

Sheryl Curtis

I'm not going to be a big help, though your information helped me. I am a cousin to Antoine Papineau, Olive's husband, and the family genealogist for the Lareau/Larreau/Lareault family. I had the Buffalo Lareau (Larreau?) brothers and their family in my "missing links" file, but I didn't have the two lines interrelated. If they are LARREAU, you might look to the midwest rather than the east. That spelling, to my knowledge, is only maintained in one line, originating out in Kansas.

Good luck.

These LaPlante's are definitely a dit name ... BADAILLAC dit LaPLANTE. That's one of the smaller families that use the LaPlante soubriquet.

It has been brought to my attention that you are I are talking about 2 different Julia Miners. Yours married Edward Laro. I thought mine had too. But I can't find any proof of that. A fried of mine, also researching the Miner line has a totally different husband for our Julia. My Julie was the daughter of Francois Menard and Domitile Daniel. You list totally different parents for your Julia. I need to research this more.

My ancestor was Frank Miner. He was born 2/26/1842 in Fairfax, Vt - although I can find no record of his birth there. He died 2/25/1925.

Frank married Mary Louis Lacroix about 1865 according to NH 1900 census. They had a son Alexander, who was my mother's grandfather.

These Miners are an elusive bunch. I have tracked them from NH to Canada and back. They did not seem to stay in one place and they kept alternating between Miner and Menard.

Do you have Frank and MaryLouise on your tree?

Hi,

For Julia Miner or Menard or Minard (depending where you find it) was born either: 01-24-1845 or 12-15-1846 in Canada. Her parents are listed as Joseph Miner occupation Farmer, Mary Deuclo both born in Canada (I found this info under deaths for 1900 in Pittsfield,NH Vital records, under Julia Laro)
For Edward Laro or Lareau. DOB either: 1836 or 1837 Canada. DOD: 1913. I believe his parents names are: Jean Bapiste Lareau and Isabelle Elizabeth Hebert. I do not have much to prove this. If that is true then I am fairly certian that Julia Menard and Edouard Lareau were married on 11-23-1863 in Dunham, Missisque, QC, Canada (I found this info on www.gencircles.com under Edouard Lareau) If you come across anything will you let me know? Could we share info you find about your GGgrandfather so I could include it in my tree? or Maybe it would give me another place to look? Thanks for your response. Colleen

I am the granddaughter of Henry and Anna's second child of their 22- Theresa (1895-1940) and Ezra Raymond (1896-1956). This is the first inquiry I've made into the family. However I do have a simple list of records compiled by Rev. Joseph Lareau that my aunt gave me. And since yesterday some pictures too. My Mother is Mary June Lareau Raymond Cyrier, Ezra and Teresa's 4th child out of 5. She has 3 older brothers Donald and twins Wilfred (both passed away) and Alfred, younger sister Barbara.
I have a letter that was sent to Mom from Clifford Potts that she said was an relative. He apparently compiled a 50 page book of his research. I sure would like to get a copy! Have you any info on that? Thanks, Carolyn

Hi Monique, I just found this discussion group. I am a Lareau born in VT. My grandfather Joseph Otto Larrow b. 5 Dec 1863 in Canada, probably Southeast Quebec. His parents Joseph Lareau & Rosaline (or Rosalie) Bassett. Joseph Otto m. Anna E. Fales 9 Nov 1887. She was b. 2 Aug 1870. They came to VT where they raised their family. All the children were born in VT. between 1888 and 1911. I have close knowledge of all of them but am looking for birthplaces, parentage, etc for Joseph Otto and his parents. as well as Anna. Do your books show these names? Thanks for any help you can give. Madge

He was married to Regina Lareau born in 1891 in Belle Prairie, Minnesota, died in 1972 in Barnes County, North Dakota. They were married April 2, 1907 in Fingal, North Dakota. I find a lot of information of Regina's family, but absolutely nothing on Harry's. Does anyone know anything about his family?
