William Randoll Larkin is the name on his birth certificate. His father was born in 1912 and his mother possibly 1923. He is in desperate need of finding his birth parents. Below is the story:

Adopted man desperately seeking East TN relatives

Grainger County native William Randall Young is battling a deadly disease and needs a life saving bone marrow transplant.

But the 58 year old was adopted at birth, and finding biological relatives who could provide the needed marrow is proving to be a challenge.

Young was born in Bean Station, but he now lives in North Texas.

"They told him a couple of weeks ago, without this transplant, he would possibly have three to six months," says his wife. Margaret Young. "We've been married almost 26 years. And he's the love of my life."

The father, grandfather, and husband is well known in Texas. He's an award-winning fisherman who has had his picture snapped with former president Jimmy Carter.

He was diagnosed with leukemia in October of 2004, and just finished a second round of chemotherapy. His wife and other adoptive family members are now desperately seeking any information they can find about William Young's birth family.

Paula Hutto, Young's adoptive sister says her mother believes she knows something about her brother's biological parents, but it isn't enough yet to find a compatible blood donor.

"My mother, she's 85 years old, and for some reason she thinks his (birth) father is some kind of sports figure, football, or something," says Hutto. "And possibly the parents weren't married at that time and it wasn't convenient to have a baby in your life at that time."

The family has searched for birth or family records, but has faced many obstacles. The East Tennessee hospital where Young was born was destroyed in a fire, and the lawyer who handled the adoption has passed away.

Relatives feel a public appeal is their last chance in this race for survival.

"If anybody knows anything, please, we're not trying to disturb a family, upset anybody, we want to help my brother," says Hutto.

Young is on a national bone marrow registry waiting list.

If you may be related to William Randall Young, or know someone related to him, please call his sister, Paula Hutto at (940) 636-1443.

As a side note to this story, I saw on our news here in Wichita Falls that Ronnie was born in Dec 31, 1947.
