Larrabees From All Over

I would like information on any Larrabee's(regardless of spelling) from central New York. I started research on the Larrabee line about 30 years ago and have created family group sheets which now include over 5000 Larrabee's. Initially, my primary source of information was from various town Vital Record books that I found in the MIT Library in Cambridge, Mass. Also, from the Ridlon's book "Saco Valley Families", pages 778 to 873. I used to do a lot of traveling around when I was in the military and every where I went I copied the names, addresses and telephone numbers of Larrabee's and when I returned home I would send them a letter asking for their family genealogy. It was quite suprising the responses I received. I quit working on the genealogies a few years ago and ended up discarding most of the documentation I had accumulated but retained the family group sheets. A few weeks ago I got a call from a man I had talked with 10 or 12 years ago. He was asking for information on his line. As a result, I have started to enter the data into my computer genealogy program. I've three different files, the Maine & Massachusetts(Stephen) line, the Connecticut(Greenfield) line and my own line in central New York. I can only go back to my great-great grandfather Elijah and wife Polly from (North)Volney,Oswego County, New York. I would like to get info especially on those of Oneida, Oswego, Onondaga & Herkimer Counties. Thanks Ed

Does anyone know who Amie F. Larrabee is? She married John Breed on 23 Nov 1820 in Norwich, CT. On the 1860 Norwich, CT census is shows she and John Breed at age 68 which would have made her birth year about 1792. Her name on the census is spelled Aime, but may be a misspelling because the Vital Records of Norwich 1659-1848 CD I have shows her name spelled Amie F. Larrabee. I would like to know who her parents were. Thanks for your help. Reba

Willie Larrabee died as toddler in Searsport, ME

Hi, does anyone out here who is connected to the Larrabee or Nichols families in the Searsport, Swanville, Prospect area of Maine, know anything about Willie Larrabee ? His parents were Stephen F Larrabee and Mary Ann (Annie) Nichols. They were married on 3 May 1873.

I have a death notice that says that Willie died in December of 1877, in Searsport, ME. His sister, Alice was born 9 April 1878 (Searsport). According to Alice's Bible, Mary Ann died in September of 1879.

In 1880, Stephen and Alice are living with his parents (Josiah and Mercena) in Swanville, ME. By 1881, Stephen had remarried ... his brother's widow, Almetia Laura Small Larrabee.

Any additional information about either Willie or Mary Ann's deaths would be greatly received. Thanks Jean
I was at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Prospect with the care-taker and she showed me the following Larrabee stones:
on the right side of the cemetery front row and all on the same stone:
Front:
Albert Larrabee-b.Apr. 15.1858 d. Jan. 3.1925
his wife Estella E. (George) b. Aug. 7.1859 d. July 27.1924
their children:
Back:
Worth O. Larrabee 1886-1958, his wife Mabel P. 1898-about 1999 (date has not been put on stone yet.),
Levi G. Larrabee b. Feb. 5.1888 d.July 25.1888,
Levi E. Larrabee b. Jan. 22.1896 d. July 1.1919,
on the far left side of the cemetery half way up:
Bertha E. Larrabee 1894-1971, her husband Amos K. Lane 1894-1963,
These are the only Larrabee's buried in Prospect.
The care-taker has lived there all of her life and remembers the family well. The old Larrabee farm is still there and Mabel P. lived there until just a few years before she died.
The house was alsways called "The Haunted House" (probably because Mabel lived there for so long and no one saw her)
Other Larrabee's born in this area were buried in Swansville, ME.

Larrabee's of Sebago Maine

I'm not a Larrabee descendant, but I live in the old Larrabee farm house in Sebago. I've searched a bit about the family that built and lived for generations in this home. For anyone interested there is a listing of Larrabee graves here http://www.rootsweb.com/~mecsebag/home.html . They are all buried in the Lakeside cemetery, some of them moved from a family graveyard after the lakeside cemetery was started. New gravestones were put in Lakeside and we have some of the original stones down in our cellar, Joanna Larrabee married to Richard, mother of Thomas Wells b. 1816, Olive C Larrabee m. to Thomas Wells, Thomas Wells Larrabee. There were also stones for Plantville and Green Grove who died as children. If I can help with any further info I'd be happy to.
i Have A Benjamin Larrabee b. 11 feb 1696/7 in Malden, Massachusetts. he m. Mary Elithorp 18 may 1727 in Bosotn, Ma. he died 9 may 1748 in Brunswick, Maine (or so i've been told about that last one).

my 1st problem lies in Mary. i've seen others list her parents as nathaniel Elithorp jr + hannah Dummer or Rowley, Ma. i've checked the Rowley books, as well as a history of Rowley setlers, but come up with only the children Margaret + Daniel. No mary elithorp. does anyone know if she is, in fact, thei child, and where i might find information stating so?

next, Benjamin Larrabee is the son of Stehpen Larrabee Jr + Isobel. i'm curious of stephen's approximate birthdate, and location. Gene Pool lists come, but it's hard to trust that sometimes. and i'm curious of the Isobel. has anyone yet found any information at all on her? i'v ejust get the given name.

Is anyone else researching this line?
I have come to have a Genealogy Book detailing the Larrabee families of CT and VT. It has no info on publisher or dates of publication. It is a brown paperback and includes various photos ca. 1800s.
I need help finding out about John Larrabee, b. 1753 in Lynn, Mass., was a Revolutionary War Soldier, married a Miss Hicks before 1799 and had one child, John, b. 4 Oct 1799 possibly in Virginia. John Sr. died 6 Feb. 1846 in Licking County, Ohio. John Sr. remarried a Dolly Smith after the death of Miss Hicks( about 1800) and had several (8) more children well into his old age. At 69 years of age he had a one year old child, his last of the eight. Does anyone know anything about the Miss Hicks? I also don't know who the parents of John, Sr. are.

Hello all. I am looking for any information on Eugene Wallace Larrabee, my paternal great grandfather. He died around the age of 30 in 1918, was apparently in the British Army, and may be buried in Maine. Unfortunately, my grandfather was but 6 months old when he died, and very little information on my great-grandfather is available to our family.

Any information from Larrabee's of french canadian descent would be appreciated. We believe that he was the only son but may have had sisters, or been of American Indian Descent as well. Thank you and good luck to everyone.

They had at least one daughter, Abigail/Abigal, who married John R. Marsh in 1839. Have no other information prior to 1839 on the Steven family. Found Laura listed in the vital records for Abigail's death, and that Simeon Stevens was her father. Any other family out there???

I am a direct descendant of Elisha and Polly.
They are buried in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen NY nearby where I live. What little I have about them was gleaned from the library of the Oneida County Historical Society located in Utica NY. It's not easy to find stuff about these people: for example, their son Lorenzo died right here in my village; I went and bought a copy of the death certificate and there is no indication of where they were buried! Checked local cemeteries to no avail also. I've been working on the family history for about 40 years starting back when I was in college and my grandparents were still alive. I have quite a bit of info, I am willing to share but there are frustrating gaps!!!
email glarfran@usadatanet.net or
wintzen77@hotmail.com

-- George

Martha Clark, 1791 and Lydia Maltly, 1804. I believe some of this took place around Shorham, Vt. I have names of children from the other marriages, to many to put in message. Hope to hear from you.
John Larabee-1820-Enosburg, Vermont

There is a John Larabee listed on the 1820 Enosburg census who is over 45 years old at the time. It also lists two sons who are between 16 and 26 years old, and I am sure there are probably other children that were on their own at this time(one might be John B. Larabee listed on the same cenus-next page- as age 16 to 26). Does anyone have the names of his children? I am trying to make a connection to Joseph Laraba, who was born about 1800, and raised his family in Franklin County, VT. Any info would be appreciated! Thank You!
Tammy St.Pierre
