Audrey Ilene Cumming, the daughter of Albert and Hulda Olson Larson was born November 10, 1917 on a farm north of Newman Grove, Nebraska. She was baptized at Shell Creek Lutheran Church and moved to farms in the Salem Lutheran Church area. She was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church on July 5, 1931. In 1933 she moved with her family east of Newman Grove. Audrey attended School District #65 and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1935.
Following her schooling, Audrey worked one year in the Superintendents office at Newman Grove High School. She taught rural school District 59 for four years followed by two years at District 65. She attended Luther College, in Wahoo, Nebraska from 1942 through 1944. She taught third and fourth grades at St. Edward from 1944 – 1946.
She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL where she graduated in 1948. From 1949 through 1957 she taught at Columbus, Nebraska.
On June 22, 1957 Audrey married Leonard Cumming at Zion Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. They lived in St. Edward where Audrey was a Girl Scout leader, served on the Library Board, was a member of the community club and the Methodist Church, later becoming the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church. Here she served on the church council, was church organist, directed the Jr. Choir, sang in the choir; and held several offices in the United Methodist Women and General Federation of Women’s Club. Audrey taught Sunday school for over 40 years combined between Zion Lutheran and the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church.
Leonard died on September 1, 1993. Audrey continued to live in St. Edward. She died Saturday morning, September 30, 2006 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion at the age of 88.
She is survived by one brother Leland A. Larson & wife Ellen of Omaha; one niece Cheri Ginsburg & husband Larry, and great niece Chloe and nephew Dustin, all of Omaha; special friends Drs. Terry & Joyce Troyer of St. Edward, and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Leonard.

CHURCH: United Methodist-Presbyterian Church TOWN: St. Edward, NE.
MINISTER: Rev. Glen Holtz
CEMETERY: Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward.
VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
