Funeral Program of Alberta LaSaine Williams

Among some papers I have that are my grandmother's, I found a funeral program for her friend Alberta LaSaine Williams, daughter of James LaSaine and Katie Lino LaSaine. (last name is spelled LaSane in census records). Alberta's husband was Herbert Williams. I did a blog post about Alberta that includes a link to the full obituary at
http://www.taneya-kalonji.com/genblog/?p=586

If anyone knows any family members, please let me know, I'd love to get the obituary to them.

Taneya
My Genealogy Blog - http://www.taneya-kalonji.com/genblog

Well, I just discovered that I'm related to the Orangeburg Lasaines. Luther Lasaine, son of Thomas Lasaine. Thomas Lasaine married twice, he married Alice and Matilda Jones. If any of this sounds familiar, talk to me. I descend from the Thomas and Matilda Line.

Lasaines out of Charleston, South Carolina

Thomas Alonzo Lasaine Sr (b. 1852)is as far back as I have been able to go as I do not know any of his siblings or ancestors. Thomas was a carpenter and Mason. He lived off Kracke Street in Charleston. He married Mary Alice Person from Weldon, North Carolina. They had two sons, Thomas Jr and Herman. They adopted John Thomas Wright, who later became John Thomas Lasaine. John's mother was Thelma Person, his father, was Vernard M. Wright. After Mary Alice died, he married Viola Colonel from Charleston.

I don't know where he is buried, I have no obituaries, no pictures.

It's possible that we are related to the Lessanes out of Sumter but I am not certain.

Don't forget to always misspell family names when doing your search.

Lasaine, Lazine, Lessene, Lasane, lesane, Lasainne, l'Saine, Lazaine, etc...

I think I have found at least 30% of my relatives with misspelled surnames. My LaSaines hail from South Carolina and were probably slaves of a Lessane/Lasaine family in SC. Still trying to trace.
