I am looking to trace the Lashley name in Barbados. Anyone out there connected to Errol Lashley, Myra Lashley (now lives in Canada) and Peter Lashley, the cricketer.

I would like to trace the tree as far back as possible.

I have just tracing my family tree and discovered this site.

It is interesting to see just how many "Lashleys" there are out there.

I am currently living in England with my children and descend from Barbados. My father Errol Edward Lashley 1937 and grandmother are still alive and living there. My Auntie Myrna Lashley lives in Canada with her daughter, that you mentioned previously in your message along with my fathers cousin's Peter Lashley the cricketer and Hamilton Lashley the politician.

Are you some how connected to these people?

I have the names of my great grandmother, great great grandmother and great great great grandmother, but do not have their husband/partners names. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please get in touch. Jane

My name is Sylvan A. Lashley and I live in Boston, Massachusetts. I am from Barbados and was born there and came to the United States to live 10 years ago. My father's name was Clarence Alexander Lashley from Brittons Hill and his father (my grandfather) was Athelstan Lashley. My father was born in 1925, and my grandfather around 1880 in Barbados. I have family in Barbados, since my father had 1 brother and 2 sisters. Both his sisters and brother have died, but one of his sister's children is still alive, and I know her children. My research on the Lashleys dates back to the mid 1700's when Lashleys came over to Barbados from Scotland.

I am married and I have three adult children--we are all on Barbados passports still, except two of my children who are born in the United States--one of my children is Sylvean D'Nece Lashley.

My sister still lives in Barbados--her name is Myrl Whitney (married) and her son, who now lives in Boston is Devaughn Lashley.

There is Peter Lashley the cricketer, still living in Barbados, and there is Hamilton Lashley, a politician with the Barbados Labor Party.

My number is (978)660-7293 (cell), and (978)537-4877.

I am a professional person--my father is/was a Seventh-day Adventist pastor (clergyman), and so am I. I have been a college president of three colleges--two in the Caribbean and one in the United States. I studied history, and business at University and also higher education in which I have my doctorate as well as a law degree--I am most interested in immigration law, although I don't practice, I help several people in the church.

There is a Myrna Lashley in Canada--I believe that she lives in Montreal.

There are Lashleys in the Carolinas, who must have migrated from Barbados.

Well, let's keep talking and finding all the Lashley's around.

I would surely love to have a Lashley reunion sometime. Let's keep talking.
When you say "check out my tree", do you mean that a family tree is accessible somewhere? I am interested in the family histories of Barbados Lashleys since my wife is a Canadian Lashley (with ancestors originally from northern England). So far I have not been able to establish whether the Barbados Lashleys and the Canadian Lashleys share common ancestors.

My name is Robin Goodwin. I am from the state of Georgia. I am researching the Lashley name. I am a Lashley by birth. Are all Lashley families from Barbados? I know a little about the first Lashley that came over here, but don't know where he came from. His name was Walter and he came here on a ship in 1650 as an indentured servant. He came to Sussex, Virginia as far as i can tell. Don't know the name of the ship. Would you happen to know any information on him? I would like to know where he came here from. I know that he had a son after he got here. His name was Patrick. I do not know the name of Walters wife. Thank You, rdgoodwin42@hotmail.com. Please e-mail me at this address.

This is the only Lucinda Lashley that roughly matches up with the one who Married William Stothart. I believe she was born in NC, so its little better than a hunch.

If anyone knows anything about this particular family please let me know. Arthur.James.Schultz@gmail.com

i have also travel to Barbados and saw the name Lashley there. my family is from the Lashley family, out of South Hill, Va. which is not that far forn Sussex, Va. i belive if we could put our heads together we would find out we are related. My great-great-great-great grandfather name was Wiley Lashley or it might be Walter Jr. Lashley and they shorten the name and call him Wiley. he married Sally A. I estimate that he was born 1828??. he was listed in the 1880 census has being 52years old and my great-great grandmother 1 month old.Laura Rives(reed) she is in the 1910 Census mispelled Lashley(Loshby) corrected by the correct spelling Lashly there my great-great grandmother is losted as being 31 years old with 7 children. she later remarried and had 3 more children these were the "Marks" 1903 marriage lic. you will see she married a Baskerville, her mother'name is present Alise Lashley. so you see we should plan a "LASHLEY"Family reunion for 2009. call me 804-252-6369

Yes your Grannie is correct, my grandmother was a lashley on her mother's side and my great Aunts "Lashley's move to Brooklyn New York in the 20's, 30's, 40's and other family members. They are decendents of Wiley Lashley and Sally Lashley of SouthHill, Virginia Mecklenburg County (Mulatto's) 1910 Census. I also saw the Lashley name in Barbardos in 2000. so I also belive we arrive in virginia via Mississippi from Barbado (804-269-3606). Lost most of the older Lashley after the 1800 census. can you help find them. found Sallie Lashley Aug 1871 in Meherin Township, Brunswick, Virgina she is the dauhter of Wiley and Sally Lashley
