Elias Lashmit (bc 1760 Frederick Co., MD - 1842 Stokes, NC)
md 23 Feb 1790 Surry, NC
Mary or Maria Padgett (2 Mar 1771 Carroll Manor Frederick Co., MD -29 Oct 1843 NC)
My main interest is the Padgett family but I am also collecting information on the husband and the children.

From The Winston-Salem Journal, Winston-Salem, NC, October 29-30, 2005-- (Burial posted at Findagrave.com).

"Mr. Michael Lee 'Smiley' Lashmit, 56, of Winston-Salem died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005. He was born Jan. 27, 1949, in Forsyth County to Edgar Lee and Alice S. Lashmit. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and a member of Hope Moravian Church. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his mother of the home; two sisters, Etta Ratledge and husband Kenneth, Jr. and Marian Hall, all of Winston-Salem; two nieces; and a nephew. He also will be missed by his many golfing, fishing, traveling, and hunting friends.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Hope Moravian Church by the Rev. David Merritt. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Oct. 30, at the church."

Not sure what info I have on this family, Don't have my papers with me at the moment. My E-address is KChillbilly6802, Not able to make out your E-address so if you'll write me, I'll check what I have and let you know. I've tried writing the other folks in this board but haven't been able to get anywhere. Mail always comes back with no such name/address. My gggrandmother was married to E.J. Lashmet, she was his 2nd or 3rd wife though. Have some info on his 1st wife and children.

John Wesley Lashmet born 1798 in Stokes, NC. His wife Pauline May Huff born 1802 in Stokes, NC. Their Son- E.J. Lashmet (called him John) born March 6, 1834 in Schuyler co., IL. I missed spelled it as Shruler in another message to Dave Lashmet. Have a bit more as well as all that I wrote in Daves message.

I'm glad to see others are looking for this family too

I have some information on Lashmet. Don't know if its in the same family or not but, this is what I have.
E. J. Lashmet- Nicname John Born March 6, 1834-Died May 26, 1908. He was born in Schruler County, Ill. Died in Whichita, Sedgwich County, Lee, Kansas and is burried at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman, Kansas. Don't know who his first wife was but his second wife was Orpha Eliga Ruggles, Sutherland. This was her second marriage as well. They were married August 1899 in WI. E.J. Lashmet's mother and father were John Wesley Lashmet born 1798 in Stokes, N.C. Mother was Pauline May Huff born 1802 in Stokes, N.C. E.J. Lashmet had 2 sisters- Carla Lashmet born 1860 in MN. and Mary J. born Dec. 12, 1840 in WI.
Orpha Eliga Ruggles, Sutherland Lashmet was my gggrandmother, She was born August 26, 1846 in Wesconsin and died June 28, 1921 in Claremore, Oklahoma.
I don't know if this is part of the family your looking for so hope this helps some.

Lashmates in Schuyler co, IL

I have two Lashmates who married into my Rucker line in Schuyler co, IL. The father John Lashmate was born in NC and some of his children. they moved to Schuyler co, IL and he remarried a Rucker and one of his daugthers also married a Rucker. There was another female Lashmate who married a Rucker, but I don't know who she is related to. (b 1827 NC)

have also been looking for relatives. My grandmother on my mothers side is Loma Lashmet and her sister Cleo Lashmet, Both from Kansas. Their mother Is Erma Lashmet. I have an marriage certificate to frank scoville him from Columbus,Kansas and her from West Mineral,Kansas. Married at Jasper county Missouri.
