Your reply answers one question, did Mary have children ?
I wondered if Ruth did the same. In this age of identity theft, I will not pry into info on living people. I could use some into on Ruth's husband as all I have is the surname Murapah with no first name, dob and location. I just wonder what you and Ruth's children might know of my ggf John Juhl.I found his death certificate and landing records in the USA from Denmark. I have not been able to find out where in Schleswig he was born. His death certificate says he was born 23 May 1866 which is 75 years to the day of my birth but I am unsure if the 23 May part is correct. Please share anything you feel comfortable sharing. russjuhl@aol.com Russ

Joseph ALTMAN - Sadie LASKER marriage - 1 January 1913 - St. Louis, MO

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Thursday, January 2, 1913

THEY WED WITH NEW VOWS.

St. Louis, Jan. 1. -- Every day is to be a New Year's day in the
calendar of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph ALTMAN, who were married
yesterday morning just as the bells throughout the city were
chiming forth their greeting to a new year.

Miss Sadie LASKER, daughter of Rabbi M. L. LASKER, and
Joseph ALTMAN of Pine Bluff, Ark., chose that hour for the
beginning of their married life and incidentally they formulated
a set of New Year's resolutions which are designed to make
their life a perpetual joy.

The agreement of the young couple never may be set aside
by either on the ground of failure of consideration, as the New
Year's obligations they assumed in addition to the marriage
contract are based on mutual promises.

The bride resolves:
I will never nag my husband.
I shall try to make myself useful to him in every way.
I shall never meddle in his business affairs.

The husband resolves:
I shall not talk to my wife when I am angry.
She shall have her own bank account.
She shall run the house; I my business.
I shall not concern myself with her political beliefs.

======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo8

Mary E. (Juhl) Laskers

Mary was born 25 Jun 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry Juhl and Dora Dack. Dora died a short time later and children raised by the maternal grandparents. Data show Mary married Edward Laskers (b. 9 May 1926 ). At one point they lived in Saugatuck, Allegan, Michigan. She died in 1991 and Edward later in 2002 in Florida but buried with her back at Michigan > Allegan > Riverside Cemetery . I am descended from Albert Juhl who was Harry's brother. I would love to find out more about Mary and Ruth Juhl and their descendants.

I have a Joseph Lasker whose mother was Mary Tonasheffsky and father was Pius Lasker born circa 1841. Joseph was born circa 1871 in Lithuania. Has siblings: John J (who is my direct line, born England), Isabella (born England) who married Andrew Peters, and Alfred (born CT), that I know of.

Joseph was found in the 1920 census in NYC (born in Russia - Lithuania) with an adopted son named Joseph Cecil. This is all I know about Joseph... perhaps a match? I also found John and Alfred and Isabella in 1920 in NYC.

My John married Sophie Mohrmann in 1910 in Brooklyn.

Any info I would love to hear!

-Grace

However, his mother's name was Dora Harrison who married a Lasker. Further info was that Joseph Lasker lived at 2322 E. 70th St. in Chicago about 1949. That's all we know - hope you can make some connection.

I just found out today that my great uncle worked in Chicago. He was born in Cleveland in 1897 and was a policeman. As the story goes on, I heard today 3/11/01 that he left Cleveland to go to Chicago and was in law enforcement there for a while. In 1946/47 he would have been about 50 years old. Is this a possible connection?

Seeking anyone with info on John and Sophie (Moprman?) Lasker. John wrote a book about travel in China which was cataloged by the Library of Congress and dissapeared shortly after writing it leaving Sophie to care for their two small children, Anna and Richard.
