I am not related to these folks, just listing an obscure burial site in Chesapeake Va (near Suffolk) I thought I'd pass along as I doubt anyone would locate it otherwise!

I have photos and could possibly get some more information. The grave site is by a shopping center and locked in by development, a very odd place but I think it must have been a family farm years ago before the area built up.

I have read your messages about H. C. Lassiter. I would like to know if you have found the marriage record of Horatio Weaver and Missouri. What is your source of information that Missouri in the daughter of H. C. Lassiter?
I am doing this research for a friend, knows very litte about her family. She is a descendant of Lucy Weaver and Elijah Parker of Southampton county, Virginia. Lucy is the oldest daughter of Horatio and Missouri.

She spoke of the GGparent, The father going to a tribe which had some illness, and befriended the leaders and then Marrying one of the daughters. I belive she said Blackfoot.

I know you were not looking for any Lassiter in Michigan but I am also try to reseach my family history. I am hoping that we might be related in some way. My father was born in Pine Bluff Arkansas and his father was born in France before coming to American and married my black great grand mother.

Viola was my grandmother and I too am searching for the Lassiter ancestors. My mother spoke of Jessie, her half brother. Also want to know of Bettie's burial site and death date.

Jacob and Reuben Lassiter, Glasgow/Greene Co., NC 1793

I recently acquired a 16 May 1833 copy of a deed from one of the burned deed books from Glasgow County, NC (shown on the back to have been registered in Greene County in Book A at page 164). The deed names enslaved persons, and may be of use to African Americans searching for roots.

The deed reads as follows, with spellings as given, though Lassiter also appears as Lasiter:

"To all people to whom these presents shall come. I Jacob Lassiter send greeting. Know ye that the said Jacob Lassiter of the State of North Carolina in the County of Glasgow planter for and in consideration of the love good will and affexion which I have and do bare towards my well beloved son Rubin Lassiter I have given & granted and by these presents do freely give and grant unto my son Rubin Lassiter the following articles as follows. I give my son Rubin Lassiter to him and his heirs executors and administrators and assigns forever that is to say the heirs lawfully begotten of his body the following articles and negro nambed to wit, twelve negroes named first Short Sarah Coff Nerse Pegg Chancy Simon Thomas Friday Ned Jinney Morning and Martain to which said negroes and their increase I give unto my son Rubin Lassiter forever and I also give unto my son Rubin Lassiter one half of all my lands lying and being in Glasgow County on the Wheat Swamp and also the purportionable part of all my moveable property. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand & seal this 30th day of November 1793. [signed by mark]

Am trying to find any info. on Hazel Marie (Boyd) Lassiter. Who was the husband, name of children she had with him, etc. Is she still living? I do know that she was married at least once before to C.S. Towler. The only known states associated with her that we know of are, OK. and CA. Believe she was born in the 1930s, had a brother named Calvin or Billy, sister named Ethel, mother named Adele, other relatives not known.

Hi. My John Lassiter is of African-American descent. He is my great grandfather. His full name was John Henry Lassiter and he was born in about 1870. According to to the 1930 census, he lived in Perquimans County, New Hope Township, North Carolina. His wife, Fannie (Griffin) Lassiter died in the eaarly 1920's after giving birth to triplets. There children's names were John Henry, Joe Frank, Hester, Mary, Hattie, Rebecca, Cora, Annie Eunice (my grandmother), Marshall and Della Lassiter. I know nothing about his siblings or parents. If any of these names "rings a bell" with anyone or if anyone has any information regarding this part of my family, please contact me. I may be able to provide you with quite a bit of info on John Henry Lassiter's descendants. Thanks.

That's strange. My grandfathers name was Harmon Victor Lassiter and he was from Jonesboro, Arkansas. He died in 1982.

Hi,

My Grandfather recently passed away and he had some letters his father (Charlie Traylor) had received from Lou Lassiter/McCaslin. They were first cousins having William Traylor/Jermima Bridgeman as shared grandparents.

My brother and I have some of these letters scanned in and available. Just need to know who to send them too. Or if there is some way to add them here I can do that too. Kind of new to the site so not sure where to put it.
