I am trying to locate descendants of John and Bertha Latshaw who probably lived in Venango, Lawrence and Warren Co. PA. They had at least children John Jr. born around 1924 and Wilmer born around 1929. I believe both of theses children are no longer alive. However, I would like to communicate with any descendants from a more recent generation. I can be contacted at cjmorrison123@msn.com

Now to figure which Jacob. I get confused with the spelling change (Latshaw/Latchaw). If you could send a copy of the obit, I'd sure appreciate it. Since Jacob & Elizabeth only had daughters and none of their names were listed in Dorothy's obit of 2006 I can't tell how many of them were married or not. Thanks.
synthyag@zoominternet.net

I found an obituary for Jacob Latshaw he died 11-26-1964 the obituary was in the New Castle News on 11-27-1964. It lists his parents as Jacob and Nancy Weaver Latshaw. I have not come across a Nancy Weaver in any of my research, I hope somebody has. I do know he is buried at Emlenton Cemetery where he lived I also have a picture of his tombstone.

They lived in Venango County, PA. Unfortunatley, all she knows is their names. I would appreciate any help at all to get started with. I believe the name Gallagher may be related as well.

Thank-you,

Connie

She was the very young widow of John Hommel of Forest Hill, Union County, PA. Her first husband was killed while "felling a tree"; and they had recently become the parents of a daughter. Anyone with any info on these people would be greatly appreciated.

I have several old photographs, purchased in a flea market several years ago. They were in one album, which had fallen apart. There is some family resemblance, but for the most part they are not identified. The only one is of a man identified only as "Dr. Latshaw", which was taken by a Philadelphia photographer. Others were also mainly done in Pennsylvania. Would be glad to exchange information, and would especially like to know more about Doctor Latshaw.

The spelling is close enough to be a possible derivitive of the same family name. All of the Latshaw family in France (at least the ones I can confirm as related) come from the Alsace-Lorraine area of France along the Rhine.

I don't currently have a match for any of your names. Keep me posted if you find a connection.

Dear Gary,
Here is another variation of the name as found on my grand-uncle's birth certificate. It states that his mother was the daughter of Marianne Caroline (Loitscher) Christen, wife of Jacob Christen. She was christened 12/7/1806 in Cornaux, Canton Neuchatel, and was the daughter of Johann Peter Loitscher. The birth certificate is in French and two dots appear over the 'I' which tells you to pronounce the name as you would "Eloise".
Do you have any other clues????
Thanks,
Gerry Hyde

I don't know who Jacob belongs to either, but I do have his wife's obituary stating he died in 1964, but not where. She died at the age of 104 yrs. and was at the Buzzard Funeral home in Parker, PA. All of her children have passed away.
Jack Buzzard that also has the Buzzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire might be able to tell you where Elizabeth was buried. Perhaps you could get a death certificate for Jacob if he could be located. Also try microfilm of local newspapers in area where they are buried. Elizabeth died Sept. 28, 1996.

My mother was a Latshaw also, but not related to the Barkeyville Latshaws. She came from Perry Twp., Clarion Co., PA. - a decendant of John E. Latshaw who was married to Elizabeth Yingling. They are buried at the W. Freedom Cemetery and my mother at Perryville.

Would be very interested in your book, although what I have isn't much, will sare in hopes of finding out more about my Latshaw ancestors. They lived in and around Jackson & Randolph Counties, ILLinois. Vergennes, Oraville,Grand Tower, and Rockwood. In 1880 Census, one of them was in prison in Randolph County, ILLinois, Menard I suppose, not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Mary Kernan
