Alexander Meldrum Lattie was one of eight children of John Lattie and Helen Clark. One of his brothers, was John Lattie/Latto/Latta who was my GGGrandfather, born 1818 in Elie Fife.

I don't know if you have loads of other info since your 2004 thread but please let me know what info you want and I will do my best.

Brenda, if your husband Wayne has a brother William (Bill) Edward Muir Lattie, i would be your niece Tamara. If i remember correctly there were around 7 or so siblings in dad's (Bill's) family. William, Wayne, Susan, Lee....

i've been wondering the same thing myself for a few years if anyone has been researching it. i know my aunt has been but have no idea how to get in touch with her, and the interesting thing is her name is susan if i remember correctly from what my father told me several years ago before losing contact again. Glad to hear from you. I don't recognize any of the names you have sent me. I don't want to give up yet tho--perhaps we can delve a little deeper.
What I know about Alexander Lattie, my great great grandfather. As I said he was born in Scotland, 10 MAY1802 to John Lattie and Helene Clark. They had 2 children, Alexander Meldrum Lattie and James Lattie. Alexander somehow found his way to Oregon where he worked for the Hudson Bay Company. He drowned on the Columbia River on 3 NOV 1845. He and Sekkus (a Chinook Indian) had many children. One was Mary Elizabeth, she was my mother's grandmother. Sekkus was baptized and was given the name Marie Catherine but, she really liked the name Elizabeth. Therefore, the name of one of the children,
my mother's grandmother.
I am currently living in Massachusetts. Going to Oregon for the winter and staying with a brother.
Let's stay in touch and see if we can piece anything together.
I wonder if Alexander came by way of Nova Scotia?

My husband's name is Wayne Lattie. His grandmother's name is Lillian Ettinger who married William Lattie. Wayne's father's name is Clarence lattie from Latties Brook Nova Scotia. Where abouts are you living now ? We live in New Glasgow Nova Scotia. i hope this helps you. Do you know of Frank Ettinger? Was your mother brought up on the george Feild Rd. in Latties Brook? My husband Wayne is related to all the Latties from Latties Brook. His relatives did come originally from Scotland. They settled all over Canada and the United States. Yes there are Indian women in Wayne's family history too. I hope this helps you. Hope to hear from you soon.

The names you gave me are unfamiliar but, that doesn't mean much since I do not know the married names of Alexander's daughters.
I was corresponding with a Lattie who told me about Latties Brook where her people came from. Her name was Charlotte somehow she stopped writing to me. She didn't have a computer. She had a brother in one of the Carolinas but never gave me his name. She said he would be able to give me more info.
Perhaps Alexander Lattie did spend time in Latties Brook before coming to America. I don't really know--would love to be able to find out more about him
He was from Scotland,ended up a Bar Pilot on the Columbia River(Oregon), married an Indian, had several Children, drowned on the Columbia River.

I came across your notes by accident and was intrigued...my mother was from a large Lattie family from Lattie's Brook, Nova Scotia. Her name was Ella Margaret, parents were Samual and Lillian (nee Ettinger), grandparents Thomas and Ella Margaret (nee Lynn). Interested in chatting?

My husband is from Kentnecooke Nova Scotia. Maitland area in fact there is an area that is called Latties Brook To this day there are still Latties living there. My husband and I live in New Glasgow Nova Scotia .

Alexander Lattie came to Oregon with Hudson Bay Company. He was in Astoria and Vancouver, Washington. I was from Oregon.

I corresponded with a Lattie in Boston area for awhile then she dropped out of sight.
She was from Lattie's Brook and sent me a latter some relative wrote and a map. She had relatives in the South, I tried to get their name and address, she never sent it to me.
I understand Lattie's Brook no longer has a Post Offoice though.
Do you want me to look up her correspondence & send to you?

He was born in St. Andrews, County Fife, Scotland.
Worked for Hudson Bay Co., eventually coming to Oregon.
He was a bar pilot, drowed on the Columbia River, Clatsop County, Oregon, born 10 May 1802, died 4 Sept 1849.
Married a Clatsop Indian, they had 7 children.

Tried to send you a message on the above subject a month or so ago. Do not know if you received it or if it was any help. Please let me know. I'm interested in your J.B. Latta, in particular. I have a James B. Latta, b. 1845, AL who is missing. He was born in Limestone Co., AL but signed up for the CSA in Blount Co., AL. after his family moved there in 1860. I have no record of him surviving the war.

My father was a Lattie, Stanford Howard Lattie born in Orange County. His father's name was John Ernest Lattie and his wife's name was Jennie Hester Lattie. My father had two brothers Lance Lattie(deceased)and George Lattie of Roxboro. Five sister four are deceased now Omie, Effie, Rachel and Marth Lattie. Belauh Lattie Rogers is still living in Roxboro. I do know that they were all born in Orange County. We have just started to do our family tree.
