Helen (Metoxen) Laubenstein, 97, Oneida, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2007, at the Anna John Nursing Home in Oneida.
She was born Sept. 8, 1909, to the late Phoebe and Jonas Metoxen. She married Norman H. Laubenstein in 1956. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1997.
Helen was a member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, in Oneida. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Nicki) Wheelock, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; June (Larry) Schuyler, West Allis; Ervin "Jay" (Gloria) Wheelock, Milwaukee; and Carol (Wheelock) Cornelius, De Pere. She is further survived by her 21 grandchildren (special grandson, Neal Cornelius), 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gerald Everett Cornelius, four sisters and two brothers, Josephine (Anderson) Cornelius, Berdina (Norbert) Forester, Alice (Harold) McCue, Nellie Metoxen, Ervin (Sadie) Metoxen, and Elmer Metoxen.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere, on Sunday, April 15, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. with Oneida Hymn Singers at 6:30 and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. on Monday April 16, 2007, at Holy Apostles Church, Oneida. A funeral service will follow visitation at 10:30 a.m. at church with Fr. John Cell officiating and Deacon Deborah Heckel assisting. Please visit www.ryanfh.com
