Frances Z. Lauer, 93,
died at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center where she was admitted September 18. Mrs. Lauer formerly resided in Titusville and more recently with her daughter and family in Girard. Mrs. Lauer was born June 26, 1915 in Titusville a daughter of the late John Zdarko and Katherine Kornecka Zdarko. She graduated from Colestock High School in Titusville in 1932. She was first married to Jack Howe in 1932 who preceded her in death. She later married William A. Lauer July 6, 1946 who also preceded her in death October 18, 1960. Fran was formerly employed by Horn Textiles and Zdarko Super Duper both of Titusville. She was a member of St. Walburga Church in Titusville and St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. She was a former member and officer of St. Walburga Church Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Polish National Alliance Group #2031 and the Friendship Club in Titusville. She enjoyed crocheting, cats, dogs, bingo and traveling. Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Robinson of Fairfax, Virginia and Betti Cicero and her husband Joseph of Girard; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Diane B. Howe of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews. Fran was preceded in death by a son Jack Howe; four sisters Josephine Zdarko, Catherine Zdarko, Caroline Kurach and Anna Cesarek and four brothers John Zdarko, Anthony Zdarko, Michael Zdarko and Joseph Zdarko. Relatives and friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Walburga Church in Titusville on Saturday, September 27 after 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. when Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Father D.G. Davis, III, pastor and Father William O’Brien, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment will be in St. Catharine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc., Titusville.
