Last year more than 200 clan members were present and a larger crowd is expected tomorrow.
Members of the family from Belle Vernon who will attend tomorrows outing are Mrs. Maria Laughlin Martin, Mr. & Mrs. John Martin, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Martin and family, Mrs. Anna Collins, Mrs. Ben Nichols, Mrs. Margaret Bamford and C. A. Martin.

Found this on Ancestry. According to FTM Maria Laughlin Martin is my first cousin 3x removed. I don't know how Mrs. Ben Nichols fits into this family but the others are her children. My Laughlin line was at the 1939 reunion as I have pictures but I don't know about this one. Sure wish I had a list of the 200 names.
Lona Laughlin Boudreaux
Monroe, La

Hi there,
You could very well be the man I have been searching for.... I am looking for information on the McLaughlin/Laughlin families from Derry. I am trying to trace details on my dads family (Without much success) I have completed the Scottish side but I am really struggling with the Irish. The only information I have is that my dads father was a Daniel McLaughlin born in Ireland approx 1920 - he came to Scotland around 1900/1 lived with an uncle Bernard (Irish) married and settled. His father was a John McLaughlin - mother - Isabella Cassidy. The story I have heard is that Isabella died in childbirth and John Remarried - surname RAFFERTY - Daniel had a stepbrother and when they were evicted Mr.. Rafferty collected the compensation monies to bring to Scotland. This never happened - I beleive he went to America. By my calculations John and Bernard would have been vorn around 1840 ish..... I know that it is a long shot- but any chance you could help?

Thanks for your time.

Caroline x

Laughlin in Oneida or Onondaga County

Hoping to find additional information about a Stephen Laughlin family in Oneida County (1830 and 1840 censuses - although name is spelled Lauchlin and Lanchlia). He may have moved to Syracuse, Onondaga bu 1850, but I've not been able to find him anywhere after 1840. He married Frances Rink (or Rindge) in Utica, NY in 1829 and they had a son, my great grandfather, William Francis Laughlin, born NY about 1837. They had at least two other children, but I don't know their names...any suggestions? Thanks very much.

Mary Elizabeth Laughlin married Henry Hunter Byers. (I show they got married Aug. 28, 1860 in Jefferson County, IA but I don't know for sure. I ordered a copy of marriages for 1860-1869 from Jefferson County yestereday so when I get that hopefully it will show me for sure.) She did not die in 1898. She is buried in Cleveland, Okla. at Woodland Cemetery. She died Feb. 14, 1925. If you go to Find a grave and put in Pawnee County, you can see a copy of her headstone. Thanks for all the other information. You have much more than I do.

Betty (Byers) Carpenter
lifeisgoodtoo@cox.net

Not a related question, however, I am wondering if, while doing your own research you may have come across the following Laughlin's (Laflin, McLaughlin).

Morton Laflin was born in 1814 in Vermont, married Julia A. Mansfield b. 1818 in Vermont or New York. Their children include:Orlin, Orrin (twins) Orlee, Charles, Ai, Jane, Phoebe, Lyman, Josephine, Emma, James, Judd, and Ella. The children were born between 1841 and 1860 in Wisconsin, New York and Minnesota.

Their surnames have a variety of spellings, as I am sure you may have found in your own search. These include: Laughlin, Laflin, and MacLaughlin, McLaughlin. Some of them changed their names to different spellings for a variety of reasons, in some cases it appears to be as a result of trying to cut the familial ties.

Any help you may be able to offer, is greatly appreciated.

Best of luck in your own search!

Granville Clifford's parents were John and Phebe Laughlin, as recorded in the Southwest Louisiana Records Volume 3, page 401.
Also, another source for previous generations is the McConnell Memorabilia by Wealtha Chaplin Scott. There is an entire section on the Sharps and Laughlins.

I mention the Sharps because John Laughlin's mother was Ann Sharp Laughlin, daughter of John Sharp Sr, born in Bruce Castle, Scotland. Ann was born in PA I believe.

John's father (the 1710 John) was Iain, correct? Do you have Iain's father as Seamus McLaughlin? I believe it was then that they dropped the Mc from Laughlin.

I have tried finding the children as well....the only one I can really find is my great-great grandfather, Granville Clifford. I was hoping to find things in census records, but John Laughlin is such a common name its like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

Yes, I have a source for the survey.

I have looked high and low in Washington County, in Tennessee where Alexander supposedly bought land, and in Kentucky where John, Phebe and their family supposedly moved to.

I can't even find a family for Phebe in Washington county.

I have that they were married the same day as well, through the Bible records. I have his birth date, however, no death information either. I've been desperately trying to find more information about them.

I believe John was born in Washington Co, VA, because his father was a surveyor during the Revolutionary War in Washington Co, VA and John's birth year is 1770.

I just saw your post.Henry J. was my great-grandfather. I am trying to find the parents, grandparents and greatgrandparents of Granville C.Laughlin.I know that he was married to Mary Riggs, because it was written in our Bible. The dates are not there, but from what I have found on the ancestry websites, it looks like he was born in KY in 1810. Do you have any sites that show records? Thank you.
