Searching for James Laughlin born about 1847 in Ireland but lived in Utah, Idaho, and died in Nevada 1876.

I'm trying to find the family and ancestors of James Laughlin who was born about 1847 in Ireland. He married my gg aunt, Mary Ann Hadley, 1870 in Ogden, Utah.
James worked for the Wells Fargo Company and moved to Eagle Rock, Idaho to manage a way station for stage coaches. They had one son Daniel Laughlin born in 1871 but he only lived a year. Then in early 1872 the family moved to Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada to work for a mining company and ran a freight wagon business that had supplies for miners and their families. James & Mary Ann had a son and daughter born to them. Tragically, in 1875/1876 James was killed in a runaway freight wagon and was buried in Pioche.
Mary Ann's family went to get her and took her back to Ogden, Utah.
Any help with this Laughlin family would be greatly appreciated.
Gratefully,
Mavis Bassett
mavisbassett@yahoo.com

POW/MIA Korean War, LAUGHLIN

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Josephine County, Oregon as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: WILLIAM REYNOLD LAUGHLIN, JR
Born: 1929
Date of loss: December 2, 1950 MIA
Service # RA19362393
D Co 32nd Inf Rgt, 7th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Laughlin family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
William Webster Laughlin 1830 Kentucky

Searching for any information about William Webster Laughlin believed to have been born in Kentucky in 1830. He was married to Priscilla Jane Ross born March 22 1833 in Kentucky and died April 4 1900. She is sometimes identified as Jane Priscilla Ross Laughlin. William Webster and Priscilla had at least two children: Ella born 1857 and William Milton Laughlin, born on June 16 1855 in Paducah KY, died Jan 26 1902 in St Louis MO. William Milton is the father of Milton Raymond Laughlin, born Jan 7 1893 in St Louis.
William Webster Laughlin may have been the son of David Laughlin born 1801 and Mary probably born 1813. If my William Webster is indeed the son of David and Mary, then he is the eldest brother of David, Adeline, Nancy, Henry, Emma, Mary and Robert W, and possibly also John and Eliza. Trying to establish a relationship of William Webster Laughlin to Simon Laughlin (about 1745), or John Woodson Laughlin (about 1780).
ref: "Early West Tennessee Marriages, Vol. 2, Brides," by Byron & Barbara Sistler.
"Hughes, Sarah J. to William Laughlin 9-7-1861 MN" where "MN" = McNairy County.
Note: The James Laughlin family including son William was living next to William New & family during the 1860 census.

Actually, Sarah J's maiden name was NEW, b. Sep 1836 in VA. William Laughlin, b. about 1837 in TN, and Sarah J. had 5 children, according to the 1900 census, but I have been able to identify only 3: James M. b. about 1862, Robert E? b. abt 1867, and John D? b. Jun 1873 (all in McNairy Co, TN, I think). It seems Robert married briefly to a Sarah Frances Causey before his death. William Laughlin dies between 1880 and 1900. Sarah J. dies between 1900 and 1910 and James M dies between 1920 and 1930. Does anyone know this family? If so, I can provide some info on Sarah J New's ancestors and siblings.

GRUBB/LAUGHLIN

I am trying to identify the ancestors of Charity Grubb who married Alexander Laughlin. They both died in Cumberland Co, PA – Charity in 1807 and Alexander in 1813.

They were married 30 Mar 1771 at St James Church, Lancaster Co, PA. That her father was Thomas Grubb seems pretty sure in that his will dated 27 May 1777 and probated 24 Aug 1779 in Lancaster Co, PA shows his daughter Charity as the wife of Alexander Laughlin.

Was this Thomas the son of Emanuel and Ann (Hitchcock) Grubb that Gilbert Cope in his “The Grubb Family of Pennsylvania and Delaware” notes as “Thomas, of whom nothing further is known”? The time frame is consistent but that is hardly proof.

Charity Grubb and Alexander Laughlin has children born (probably) either in Lancaster Co or Cumberland Co, PA between about 1770 and 1790

Susanna
Nancy (Ann)
John
Charity
Elizabeth
Prudence
Alexander

Any help would be appreciated

Doug Little
I am looking for information on my grandfather, Robert Miller Laughlin, born 1913 in Pittsburgh, PA. His first marriage was possibly annulled shortly after. It is thought he was married in New York (or poss New Jersey) and had a child, from this marriage that was later annulled. My father may possibly have a half-brother or sister. Not sure if birth occurred before or after annullment.
Thank you!
