Yes, My grandpa was telling me that his grandfather (Gottilob, forgot spelling) and father (Edward Launer) built some of those buildings. Rosa was married to Gottilob. I hope it is the right line. Rosina Catherina Bassler was married to John Launer. I hope this is right. Let me know.

Yes, I believe that sounds right. Rosina Basler is the name I remember. So you must also be a modern day Launer. I thought Rudolph was her husband but I'll have to check. Several buildings in Fremont were built by a Launer who was a stonemason. So the Fremont area, cemetery , etc. are full of the Launer/Baslers/Weiseleiscen(sp?) settlers from early on. Keep in touch if you would like to exchange more info. This is a long documented line into Germany

Did you ever get any info on your family? I have the Launer family back to 1738 (Rudolph - Steinenbronn). I am descended from Jacob...brother to your John (Johann). I believe I knew Marlene as a child. I think Howard and Eileen lived in North Platte, NE in the early 1950s.

Christopher Michael Launer, who responded to one of your posts, is also from this same family. His grandfather, Richard, and my father, Edwin, are first cousins.

Contact me directly....harris@cornhusker.net.

I have several Karl/Carl Launers in my family.
Carl Frederick Launer was born in 1886 in
Fremont, Nebraska, and married Anna Mewes.
He has a son Carl also. His brother's name
is Johann Carl Launer. He married Rose Klare/
Klarc...spelling is unsure. Their father was
Johannes (John) Launer born 1859 in Germany.
His father was John (Johannes?) Launer born
1827 probably in Germany. It is possible that
this last one had a brother Karl who immigrated
to California. I don't have anything any
farther back at this time. I've just begun
as well and was lucky enough to find a cousin
who had most of the information. Good Luck!
