Elaine, which Louderback family? The Puyallup side? I'm from the Hoquiam/Aberdeen side. Are you Marilyn's daughter? When I was a younger my grandpa, Sam Louderback, drove by Leland Louderback's house in Puyallup and told my grandmother that one of his "forgotten relatives" lived there. So there IS a link between the Puyallup and the Hoquiam line - we just have to figure it out! I am thinking of doing the DNA testing and seeing if it matches the Himmelkron, Germany line where Johann lived. If you do it, too, Ancestry can also check to see if you and I are related at the same time. It will help to prove part of the mystery. I believe the cost is $85 through Ancestry.com per person. Not cheap but not too horrible either. I'm sending for the kit and if you decide to do it sometime my results will be in the database.

Hi,
I am interested in the Bowyer line. My grandmother was Ethel Bowyer, daughter of Joseph Morris Bowyer & Anna Bowyer. Maryetta was a cousin. Does the book Bowyers of Old Virginia indicate who Joseph Moris's father & mother were? Have you located copies of the other 2 books that Maryetta wrote?

Thank you
Betty C

My grandmother, Emma Augusta LAUTERBACH immigrated to NYC in 1910 and her contact was an Aunt named Mina (Minna, Wilhemina, Wilhemine) Rietdorf (Reidorf, Ritdorf) who lived in New York.

I found a "Minna REITDORF" in the 1910 NY Census (age 27) with Richard (32), Edward (4) and George (3). According to the census, Minna and Richard were married for 6 years, Minna applied for citizenship in 1903 and Richard in 1902. Both were born in Germany. I haven't determined if this Minna is the Mina I'm looking for, but maybe the info can help you.

I am searching for information on my Grandmother's family. My Grandmother was born Emma Augusta LAUTERBACH on 23-Feb-1891 in Berlin, Germany. She may have had a brother named Walter LAUTERBACH.

Emma's father, Emo LAUTERBACH died in the war and her widowed mother married a man named BOSE (with two dots over the "O"). They may have had a child named Frieda BOSE.

Emma immigrated to NYC in 1910 and married Johannis KAUFMANN in 1911. They had five children; John Albert KAUFMANN (b.1912, prob. in NYC), William Walter KAUFMANN (b. 1915 in NYC), Emma Charlotte KAUFMANN STARKS (b. 1920 in Michgan), Winifred Dorothy KAUFMANN BLAIR (b. 1922 in Michigan) and Beverley Marilyn (b. 1933 in Michigan).

Emma's Aunt Mina RIETDORF died and sent her son Elton RIETDORF to live with the KAUFMANNS in Michigan. Aunt Mina may have been a KAUFMANN RIETDORF or a LAUTERBACH RIETDORF.

I'm interested in the history of the LAUTERBACH family, particularly information on Emo and Wilhelmine as well as Walter.

Thank you.
POW/MIA Korean War Lauterbach

I am searching for the family of a soldier that was lost in the Korean War. When he entered service he gave Phoenix, Arizona as his home of record

Soldier: BOB ALFRED LAUTERBACH
Born: October 17, 1926
Date of loss; Jube 26, 1951 MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Lauterbach family is one of those families that has not been located

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (77 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
Lauterba -phonetic form of Ladebauche or Laudebauche?

Hello, looking for information about my g-grandfather's parents.

His mother's maiden name is listed at LAUTERBA. I've been told this could be a phonetic attempt at spelling Ladebauche or Laudebauche. Also, that these names are found near the Quebec border and Essex County.

My g-grandfather's info:

Name: MCNENY, RAYMOND P
Sex: MALE
Birth Date: 19 Jun 1896
Birthplace: NEW YORK
Death Date: 12 Jan 1963
Death Place: LOS ANGELES
Mother's Maiden Name: LAUTERBA

The spelling of Raymond's last name may have changed from the origianl too, McNeany, McNaney, McNary. It's no wonder I can go back no further than this!

If any of this sounds possible, familiar or ridiculous, let me know.
Thanks!
~Carrie
I have traced my great grandmother Josephine "Josie" Lauterback born in Lucas Iowa about 1872 and married to David Shore Oct 6, 1894 in Lucas Iowa. This is where the trail stops for me I am curious as to whether the last name is spelled wrong and that is why I can't find anything more on her. Are you aware of this spelling and of a Josephine or Josie?

I would appreciate any help you can be

Thanks Karen

Carrie,

Your post interests me very much. I believe I am descended from your Daniel's sister, Christina, who married Adam Bowyer. My main source for Lauterbach info is "Bowyers of Old Virginia" by Maryetta Frances Bowyer.

On page 270 of Bowyers of Old Virginia it says,

"The Lutheran Church records of Staudernheim indicated that Maria Katherine and her husband emigrated to Pomerania; and that Johan David and his brother, Johannes, both emigrated to America.
Compiled by: Christine L. Neuenschwander; 4727 south 1300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117."

The author goes on to say..."Johann David Lauterbach (Lautenbach) emigrated to America on the ship "Samuel" which arrived at Philadelphia on 27 August, 1739 (Strassburgher list of passenger). He is shown as age 23 on the passenger list. On 16 July 1745, he married Maria Elizabeth Klein at Lititz Moravian Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The marriage was also recorded in the records of the Lutheran Church of Lancaster, Pa., since David was Lutheran."

No, I don't know if Johann Lauterbach (1531-1598) is in this line. Possibly, but we aren't back that far yet.

I hope this is helpful to you. I'd enjoy hearing about your line down from Daniel. The book I mentioned said he married an Anne Ward. Is this your ancestor?

I look forward to exchanging more details with you and anyone else connected to this line!

Sandi
> By any chance do you have information on Amos Lauterbach,
> married Lydia Mellor , Jersey City late 1800s or so?

I don't. Sorry.

Henry Lauterbach came over from Germany in the late 1860s, but I don't have any information about his brothers and/or sisters. It's quite possible that Amos was brother or nephew or uncle to Henry.

If I find anything, I will post it here.

LAUTERBACH to PREEDY: London

Hello, I have done some LAUTERBACH research in the London MDX area. One of my BRAUTIGAM ancestors appears as a LAUTERBACH marriage witness. I found that at least one family of LAUTERBACHs in London changed their name completely to PREEDY (to Anglicize). You can see where they announced the change in the London Gazette. If you do a web search for London Gazette...then search their archives for LAUTERBACH you will see the name change notices (there are more than one). You can also find LAUTERBACH in the 1881 UK Census. I have a LAUTERBACH=WEBBER (WOBBE) marriage in 1862 London.Would like to know where these LAUTERBACHs are from in Europe. E-mail me for details or with information if interested. I am going to the LDS Family History Center here in Tacoma this morning to see what I can come up with.Stay in touch okay! Elaine in Tacoma Washington

Hello. I just learned today that I may be related to August Lauterbach. My great great grandmother was Marie Christian Lauderbach/Lauterbach. She may be the sister of Carl Lauterbach, who was the father of an August Fleischer Lauterbach, born March 26, 1844 in Rudigershagen, Thuringen Germany. Carl's wife was Marie Lauterbach, nee Schnellhardt. The time frame might be right. Marie C. Lau(d or t)erbach married a Bernhard Rupprecht and her line can be seen if you Google "Bernard Rubright" and go to the link with "angelfire" -- you can do better in Google than if I provide the link. The site is maintained by my cousin, Sharon Ellison (Sharelli@aol.com). Hope to hear from you or anyone about August Lauterbach.

I do know that she married Stephan Little and that they had several children, one of which was my grandmother Rachel Little. I obtained my grandparents marriage certificate from Wayne Co. Iowa and it states that my grandmother was born in Mercer County Missiouri. In my great aunts obituary it spells my greatgrandmothers last name as Louderbach, but it is spelled Lauterbach on my grandparents marriage certificate. Any information would be great.
Lauterbach or other spelling

I'm trying to track down the Lauterbach family that settled in San Diego County, CA around 1900.

Originally immigrated to US in 1869/70 and first lived in New Jersey before going west.

Henry Lauterbach had a son Frederick (born in NJ) and Lydia (born in CA). I think he also had a daughter named Matilda but I can't verify that. I've gone down many paths and all of them have been dead ends.....hope someone out there can shed some light.

JMurphy590@aol.com

Adela Lauterbach

I am looking for information about Adela Lauterbach. She married Hugo Zielke, probably bef 1912. At the time of the 1920 census they were living in Milwaukee, WI. They had two children, a daughter, and a son, Clarence. Any information about Adela's family would be most helpful.

Thanks,
Laurie
