Hi,
Grasping at straws here, but had to write to ask abt the
BALUM given name.
I find it somehow connected to my AA/Native WEELDON,WHILDEN,
WEEDEN family in NC, only it is spelled BAALAM.
It is rarely seen, and I am curious.
LAVENDER surname is somehow connected.
Believe that my WEEDENS were in TN/KY before they went to
NC, but having no success sorting anything out.
Can you be of help?

I have more information now. Elizabeth was likely called "Lizzie" and her parents would seem to be Peter Lavender (b. abt 1847) and his wife Maria (b. abt 1853). Siblings were Thomas (b. abt 1882), Patick (b. abt 1883), Peter (b. abt 1885) and Mary (b. abt 1886). Does anyone have information on this family? They're living in Bolag, Ballynakill Parish, Galway, Ireland per the Leitrim-Roscommon 1901 Census.

I'm looking for information about my great grandmother, Elizabeth Lavender, b. appx. 1887 in County Mayo.

Per the 1911 Census, she lived with her husband Joseph Power (b. abt 1886) and two sons (John, b. abt 1909 and Thomas, b. 1910) in Cloncoe, Woodford, Galway.

Any information about Elizabeth's family would be very much appreciated.

I am linked to Agnes Lavender, daughter of Richard John Lavender & Sarah Andrews. Agnes and Annie were sisters - Agnes went to the Bellingen area to live. Agnes married Charles Martin Smith born in Redfern in 1861.

Asenath Joyce b 1803 was married to James Lavender b 1806 had Richard John Lavender b 1831 in Rickling Green who married Sarah Andrews in 1855. Two of their girls were your Annie and my Agnes.

We have "LAVENDER'S" in our family history. From Wythe Co. Va. Most of my mother's family is from that area.

my intial checks have found only one thomas lavender but the date of birth in the uk records shows as 1801 this is one of the problems as many did not registar births early and therefore some did so later and cant remember the real dates this is a close match to a thomas Lavender from cuckfield sussex, i also have four on my family tree all within a couple of years so i will do some more delivin for you.

I have checked my tree and have a alexander born 1739 married Ann Gurr born 1733 they had a son John born 1769 normally in this period families were large but i only have john at the moment, using the date line it is possible that Thomas may have been the Son of John or of another brother, im looking into it more and will let you know, the family comes from Warbleton in Sussex most of the Lavender families in Sussex come around this area.

Ok here we go i have a thomas lavender born 1743 married TO ANNE IN 1766 i dont have any children currently listed but the date time line fits as does the loaction.so still looking LOL,

checked birth records cant seem to find a thomas lavender born 1769 except in cuckfield as the family were mainly farm labourers it is not surprising if this be the case as several of the family moved from one farm to another i sussex helping with harvests ect

Thomas Lavender and Maria Gear had a daughter Laura who married a William C Alexander. Their Son Thomas James Alexander married a Lulu May Kline, Their daughter Luriee Tura Alexander was my grandmother.

All the detail I have is that he wa born in Sussex, England on April 27, 1793 and died in Delaware, Ohio on February 15, 1876. I also believe that he arrived in New Your around 1818. He had three wives. The one I believe to be first was Elizabeth Hilder. All I know about her is that they wed in Strutter, England. Then he married Rebecca Gordon in England in 1815. In 1825 he married Maria Gear in Pennsylvania. He had children with both Rebecca and Maria, but not with Elizabeth. I am stuck there. I can't figure out his parents. Thank you for your time.

May I ask how you are related to Thomas? I assume we are talking about Thomas S. Lavender. The one that seems to have been born from nowhere. LOL I would love to know where our trees meet up.
