Classification: Query
Surnames: Lawhead, Ahart, Talbot, Reynolds, Renelds, Renolds, Reynold
I am working on this specific section of my family tree. I am concerned about the information quality that I am finding...anyone know any more about this, or have suggestions?
(1880 fed census - Indiana - Greene County - Richland Twp - ED 303 - page 23 - line 20)
Elisha Lawhead - 44
Sarah - 36
Melinda - 15
Richard - 10
David W. - 5
John W. - 2
Nora Edna - 4/12 (Feb) - She is the source that we are CERTAIN about (great-great-grandmother).
I have found VERY similar families in earlier census', but can't feel comfortable about them...i'll explain with the citations:
(1870 fed census - Indiana - Greene County - Richland Twp - page 23 - line 10)
Elisha Lawhead - 30 - shouldn't he be 34?
Sarah - 24 - shouldn't she be 26?
Melinda - 5 - perfect
Richard - 4/12 - perfect
This makes me wonder since we know from the other census that Elisha was not able to read or write (maybe he couldn't keep count of the family ages?)
(1860 fed census - Indiana - Greene County - Center Twp - page 661 - line 37)
Joseph - 44 (presumably his father)
Kasander - 28 (no idea who this person is)
Elisha Lawhead - 24 - perfect
James H. - 18
John - 15
Mary e - 12
Lucia -10 (next page)
William A. - 8
Then there is another Lawhead family next door...John and Sarah Lawhead - Elisha P, Ruth A. Talbot, Elizabeth talbot, and William Talbot living there. Two houses away is who we believe to be the spouse of Elizabeth J Lawhead - Ahart Hash (who's age is accurate best we can tell with the spouse we show).
Any ideas on how to determine this information's acuracy would be a great help.
We are positive that the 1880 census is 100% correct (we've spoken with relatives that had the information written prior to us finding the census information).
We also show Elisha and Sarah being born in Greene County Indiana (1863)
Thanks for the response.
