From Saint Marys Miss Mable Dowden, John Lawhead and daughter Velma Dowden of Maplewood. My grandmother was Audrie Brown. She was adopted along with her 3 sisters and 1 brother. I don't know her maiden name. All I know is her mothers maiden name was lawhead. She married Edgar Brown and had 2 daughter, Dorothy and Mary. Anyone have any info. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thanks.

22 Nov 1978 Sidney Daily news. Melvin Wildermuth 79 died today at the home of a nephew, Herbert Wildermuth. Born 25 Jan 1899, son of John and Elizabeth Metz Wildermuth. Survivors include a sister Mrs Howard Edna Lawhead, two brothers J. J. and Roy E. and several nieces and nephews. He was a retired farmer.Burial in Glen Cemetery Port Jefferson Ohio.

Mary and William Lawhead, PA to OH Abt 1846-1851

Looking for more info on the following family, from 1870 OH census:

Mary Lawhead, 49, born in PA
daughter Frances, 24, born in PA
son Charles, 19, born OH
Harry, 15, born OH
Harris, 13, born OH

Mary's husband William and son William J both died in Civil War. They were in Company G of 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The elder died July 16, 1864 at New Orleans; the younger August 10, 1864 at New Orleans.

Mary died 1886 and is buried in Wooster, OH cemetery, along with her daughter Ella G., who died Oct. 20, 1866; her son Charles Harvey Lawhead (tombstone dates: 1854-1941); and her daughter Frances (1844-1920). The plot also contains Frances's husband William B. Robertson (1841-1888); two of their children, Jessie B. Robertson (1882-1919) and June Victoria Robertson (1876-1943); and William Robertson Wertz (d. my 4, 1937).

Frances and William's son William Robertson, buried elsewhere, is my great-grandfather.

Looking for location of these Lawheads before 1870, and any other relatives. I have a death notice for Ella G. Lawhead, which indicates she died in 1866 at 18 years of age, and was working in Pittsburgh prior to her death, so the family may have lived there, before moving to Ohio.

My grandmother was Audrey Viola ,last name missing except that I know that her mothers maiden name was lawhead. She married my grandfather Edgar E. Brown . I only know that she was put up for adoption along with her 3 sisters and one brother. James Lawhead & Temperance Gilson family

James Lawhead was born about 1821. Temperance Gilson was born about November 30, 1823. They were married on January 20, 1840 in Marion County, Ohio. Their children include: George W (birth Feb 10, 1842), James (birth about 1846), Margaret A. (birth about 1843), Susannah (birth about 1843 - twin?) and Cynthia A. (birth unknown). James (the father) died July 19, 1846. Temperance re-married a Charles Conlon and had 2 children with him before dieing September 20, 1851.

George W. and Margaret are found with a Reuben Lawhead in the 1860 Michigan Census. Reuben MAY be a brother to James as his age in the census indicates his birth about 1821.

In 1850, James and Susannah are found with their mother, Temperance and "step-father" Charles Conlon in Morrow County, Ohio. So far, the other three children have remained elusive for 1850.

Margaret married 4 times in Michigan - Joseph Henry Boyer, David Dutcher, Edmond Taylor and John Wollpert.

George W. also married 4 times in Michigan - Mary King, Emma Mae Stiles, Helen Vorst and Henrietta Langs.

Susannah married Robert E. Meeker on November 15, 1860 in Morrow County Ohio. I believe they then moved Prairie Township, Mahaska County, Iowa by 1870.

Cynthia married Elias Marshall on November 2, 1856 in Muskingum County Ohio where they were living in the 1860 census before moving to around Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee by 1870.

I am looking for any descendants of these families - or for any information on James' and Temperance's parents.

Looking for any info on George W. Lawhead - born in Ohio in 1846. The only info that I have on him is from the 1880 Michigan Census (age 34) where he had married Emma M. (born in Vermont) and had two children Margaret and Effie (both born in Michigan). George's parents were also born in Ohio, but I don't have their names. Margaret is my ggrandma.

My father is Richard T. Lawhead. He was born in 1945. My grandfather was Robert Lawhead (he was born somewhere around 1920) who married my grandma Kathleen and they had 5 children. They lived in the Columbus Ohio area. It was not known until my father was a teenager that my grandfather Robert (Bob) had been married before and had approximatley 5 other children. I believe one of them is named Sue. I would love to know who these 1/2 brothers and sisters of my father are and where they live. I believe that my grandfather had little contact with his children from the 1st marriage after marrying my grandmother (because she unfortunatley was a very jealous woman). If this sounds familiar please let me know. I have always been so curious about Aunts and Uncles that I have but have NEVER met.

Philip S. Lawhead was born in Miami co Ohio June 28 1838 and was a former resident of Franklin twp. Shelby co Ohio, died at Brownsburg, In. Saturday March 15th..In May 1864 he enlisted for one hundred days in Co. I. the one hundred and forty-seventh regiment, serving until August 30th.. In 1866 he married Mary Fordyce of Miami co. Many years since he moved on a farm in Frankllin twp, where the wife died. He then married Mrs Catherine May, of Brownsburg, In. and two years since moved there. He had no children. The second wife survives.

1880 census shows brothers Rev. Thomas LAWHEAD b 1812 and Thomas LAWHEAD b 1823 in Washington Washington Co IA. Each had several children. These are sons of David Mitchell LAUGHEAD and Elizabeth KYLE b KY who lived Xenia Greene Co OH.
These brothers married related (poss sisters) Nancy ANDERSON b 1814 and Mary ANDERSON b 1832 - dau's of David Anderson b 1787 and Nancy CURRIE of Xenia OH and Washington IA.
Seeking descendants/leads to missing pioneer ancestors my ANDERSON family and would enjoy discussing/sharing.

I am looking for information on my husband's side of the family. His grandfather was James Harvey Lawhead b. 07/10/1910 and d. 04/14/1976. James Harvey's father was Albert Lawhead who we think was born in MO but not sure. Albert was married to Celia Chuwalooky (full blood Cherokee). They were married around 1905-1906.
