LAWHON Elsie June Lawhon, born June 10, 1927 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Willis Gilmore and Anna Marie (Spicer) Gilmore, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, December 20, 2007. She had two other siblings, a sister, Lorene Combs and a brother, J.D. Lewis, both deceased. She attended Liberty High School in Hazard, Kentucky. She left Hazard, Kentucky and moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she worked at Halle Brothers. She married Clyde Lawhon Jr. on June 13, 1945. She was devoted to her husband of 53 years until his death in July, 1998. In 1999, she moved to Columbus, Ohio. She attended St. Elizabeth Church. She leaves to cherish the memory of her; two daughters, Andrea Blount and Sherri Gillikin; three grandchildren, Edward Blount, Jr., Stephen Blount and Christian Gillikin; one great-granddaughter, Arienna Blount; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to carry on. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at St. Cecilia's Church, 3476 E 152nd St, Cleveland, OH 44120, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 10000 Miles Ave., Cleveland. Contributions may be made in Elsie's memory to St. Cecilia's Church in Cleveland or to St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd. Columbus, OH 43229.
