The extensive Will of Jacob Lory ranks as the largest and most detailed ever encountered by this genealogist. Over a number of pages he divides his many "Freehold Messuage or Tenement Lands and Hereditaments" between his surviving sons and provides for the education of his grandchildren by his two deceased sons. There is not any mention of his daughters, of whom he likely settled a dowry upon them when they were married and it was thus unnecessary to leave any more unto them through his will. The Will reveals that he was the owner of numerous lands in St. Keverne Parish, and others in St Grade. They were known as Great Kilter, Little Kilter, Little Clifts, The Lower Common, Chenhalls (with two dwelling house and gardens), Kingey (in St. Grade Parish), Tregoning, Polgwest, Arrowan (also known as Voague), Park Poll Smith, Leghton Vean, The Kings Close, Tregoning Mills and Pedna Menna.
