Does anyone know any Laws in New Bern or Craven County? I am looking for my husbands half brother and I think his middle name is actually a family surname. In the 1950's, my mother in law remembers John Laws in New Bern who was a state trooper, but it appears he may have passed away.

His birth name is Joel Laws Lewis, but due to a divorce, it is possible his mother remarried and had his last name changed. His mother is Betty (or Elizabeth) and she was a school teacher. It is also probably that Betty took Joel and moved out West in the late 1940's. If you have any information or know Joel, please reply. Thank you!
