Andreas Lawyer is notoriously difficult to trace back further. No one has made a connection yet that is documented. Some assumptions have been made that he was the son of one of the Johanis/Johannes Lawyers, but there is no real documentation. We have to assume that his parents - for the time being - are unidentifiable.

Andreas is my great-great-great grandfather.

Looking for any information regarding Maria Lawyer, born 1844 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her father was born in New York and her mother in New Jersey (don't know their names). Maria married Charles H. Weaver and they had nine children. They lived in Franklin, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky. Any info appreciated!

I have ancestors who I believe came from the Monmouth area.
According to what I have Stacy Lawyer was born there in 1821. He later married Arminda Steele & then to Indiana before settling in Illinois where he died in 1904. I would appreciate any information youmight have on this line. I have been at a dead end for a very long time.

Frederick and Catherine Lawyer Ohio to Illinois about 1854

I am hoping someone might connect to this Frederick and Catherine Lawyer family said to be from Germany that migrated from the Wilmot, Sugar Creek, Stark County Ohio ( Tuscarawas and Holmes Co., OH are included)to Whiteside County Illinois area with the following famlies; John Wetzel/Margaret Reece, Isaac Stull Swearingen Jr/Hannah Martin, George Hurless (Harless)/Susannah Lucy Leatherman, Overholser (Overholtz), Winters and Malone. Possable this family may have been Mennonite or German Reformed Church.
Some of the children of Frederick and Catherine Lawyer are listed below in a Whiteside County Bios for Louis Wetzel.
Not listed is Mary Lawyer's siblings Elizabeth and possable Sarah and Nicholas. They may have remained in Ohio or gone to other States like Indiana.

4, Frank Lawyer born about 1853, Ohio listed 1880 census working for Ranslow W. Biggs, Webster TWP, Hamilton CO., Iowa.

The following Bio may be in error as there appear to be NO famlies that came directy from Germany with the Surname Lawyer. More likely this family came from PA.

Portrait & Biographical History of Whiteside Co 1885

"Lewis Wetzel, a farmer, section 17, Hopkins Township, is a son of John and Margaret (Reese) Wetzel, who were natives of Franklin Co., Pa., of German and English descent. They first settled in Ohio and lived there till 1855, when they came to Whiteside County and settled in the township of Genesee, where they lived till their death. He died Sept. 18, 1860, and she Feb. 2, 1882. They had a family of 12 children, namely; Catherine, Daniel, Jacob, John, George, Elizabeth, David, Andrew, Hannah, Joseph, Margaret and Lewis. Mr. Wetzel was born in Stark Co., Ohio, June 3, 1837. He received a common-school education and came to Whiteside County with his father when he was 18 years old. He lived in Genesee Township till the fall of 1861, when he purchased a farm of 160 acres on section 17, Hopkins Township, where he settled and has since lived. He is now the owner of 206 acres, most of which is tillable. He has erected some very fine buildings on his farm. Mr. Wetzel was married in Sterling, Ill., March 25, 1858, to Mary, daughter of Frederick and Catherine Lawyer, natives of Germany, who had four children, - Jacob, Mary, William and Frank. Mary (Mrs. W.) was born in Stark Co., Ohio, March 1, 1836. Mr. and Mrs. W. are the parents of four children - Rebecca E., Delilah J., John G. and Rollin E. Mr. Wetzel has been Overseer of Highways and School Director. In politics he is indentified with the Republican party."

Looking for desc. of Lawyer family of Monmouth Co. esp. family of Millstone twp/Clarksburg area; UFT.
There is strong poss. Joseph Lawyer was m. to Rebecca Stewart and parents of Catherine Lawyer1830-1886 and her known brother Louis 1827-1907.
Catherine was second wife to William Pullen 1812-1890 of Millstone twp.
There is no definite proof that this Joseph is the same who m. Rebecca Stewart. In 1850 census, Joseph was 69yr and the right age--he is listed with Catherine and Louis. This would be right since Rebecca Stewart Lawyer died in 1849.
After Catherine's married to Wm Pullen, her step daughter, Anna Maria, married Alfred J. Lawyer in 1861. This must be in same family but cannot find connection.
Also looking for desc. of Alfred's children: William G. Lawyer and Frank C. Lawyer.

Yes, a little. John was married to Rachel Howell who is buried in the same cemetary. They had 8 children, William Henry, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, James, John Jr., Levi,and Melissa. Do you know how James and Caroline died since they died so young?
