I am wondering how far back your information goes on the Laxson family of which Wm Harold was one. Someone told me they first stopped in Penn after coming across. Is this information you have? We know a lot about the wife's side, but not as much about the Laxson side. Have you published anything?

Susan

Well, it's been a few years since I've been out to check. I allowed myself to get way-laid! It's nice to hear from the Oregon branch of the family! There is still one Laxson in Earlville (my father-in-law) and we are in the Iowa City area, 75 miles away. What information can we help with?

Richard

Do you know where he was in Texas and what time frame? Most of the the Laxan, Laxson, and Laxton's come from the same sourse. Most of the ones who came to Texas were descended from a James Laxton who lived in Perry Co., TN in 1830, and 1840. Some came directly from TN and some went to MO first and then came to TX. If you will send me more information on this man I will see what I can find.

Hi Elaine, Thanks so much for your reply. Actually, there were many other children in this family. My grandparents William Martin Emmons and Maude Roberson Emmons had many children. They were:

Oscar, Lucy, Eugene, Gladdis Emmons (born to William Martin Emmons and his first wife Nannie Ruddell)

Ruth, Eunice, Mattie, Alice Ruddell (born to Maude and her first husband - Ruddell)

William and Maude's spouses died and they married each other having the following children: Julia, Hazel, Blanche (my mother) and Imogene.

If possible, could you give Noema and/or Darrell my email address? PFaschingbauer@aol.com.

Thanks for your reply

Phyllis

This is to let you know that Noema Laxson Karcher and Darrell Laxson are my brother and sister. They were my dads son and daughter by his first marriage to Imogene Emmons.
Noema lives in Harleyville , Pa and Darrell lives in Dekalb, Tx
The last time I knew nether one of them have anything to do with their mother and do not know where she is. When my mother died last year Darrell and his wife came to the funeral and his wife told me that they hadn't talked to her in years and didn't know where she was. I do have their addresses and phone numbers but do not feel comfortable in giving them out for I did not know that (or had forgotten) there was another sister. I thought it was just Imogene and my Aunt Julia. My Dad Lorraine Laxson died in 1984 and my mother died just last year, 9-2005. Hope this helps you. Elaine Laxson Stewart

Hello
this is Jackie from Norfolk, England and I've just discovered your thread. I recently found out that my Laxons came from Little Barningham/Terrington area. My grandmother was Alice Laxon....my earliest link is Thomas Laxon/Laxton c1671-1726 who married twice. Sarah then Margery Jordan..i come down this side...most of the males seemed to die very young.. my GGm lost three sons and her husband before their 40th birthdays.
I've just put a caravan on a site in the area (small 2 berth) but it will allow me to browse further records.
My dream is to link my Laxons to William Laxon who built the first houses in Jamestown in 1607...he came from Lincolnshire which is only a hop away from Kings Lynn.
hello to all Laxons 'cousins'
from
Jackie Clover, Acle, Norfolk.
Ps Kings Lynn isn't tiny...not by our standards.

Laxson, John Harold DOB May 17, 1917

John Harold Laxson, Sr., Son of John Samuel Laxson & Grace B Orendorff died on November 1, 2005.

John and Cheryl were with him when he left; Jim & Michele joined them just afterwards. It was a precious moment as Dad's clay vessel lay there and yet his soul was absent. We huddled hugging each other and had a word of prayer as we wept with joy and sorrow. He is home with the Lord - Thank You for your prayers.

We've had a good day laughing and remembering, crying fewer tears of sorrow and more of joy. We have finalized many of the plans which are as follows:

Friday, 10 AM will be the funeral service at Straub's Funeral Chapel in Camas, WA. The address is 325 NE Third Ave.

12 noon will be a short service at Willamette National Cemetery.

@1 PM Don & Shirley's church family will host all of us for a lunch.

We know that many of you are out of town and unable to come but your
presence in thoughts and prayers is greatly appreciated. Thank you in
advance.

Should you desire to pass on any memories or thoughts, the four sons
email addresses are in the Cc section. Thanks again. Psalm 116:15

With great love for our Dad and on his behalf,
John & Cheryl, Don & Shirley, Dan & Barb, Jim & Michele

daniel.laxson@comcast.net

He was born Feb 24. 1917 in Augusta or Sidney, Maine and married Thelma Feb 28, 1936, probably in Hallowell, ME where both were listed as residents.

Is this your Thelma?

Ralph Nichols
rvnicholsATverizon.net

My tree is private only in the sense that I have not published it - yet. Someday. Too busy now researching - almost entirely here at Ancestry.com (census data, directories & trees).

As for Thelma's family I have very little. My gr-aunt Augusta Scott (Nichols) Bates published her research in 1952. That is the core of my info, although I have found several errors. Rather than place info here on someone who may be alive, write me at "rvnicholsATverizonDOTnet". (I try to disguise the address so no automated 'bot from a spammer can easily pick up my email address.)

Anyway, I have one child for Winfield Nichols & Thelma Laxson.

I see that you have a second marriage for Thelma with no date. Was that before or after her marriage to Winfield Nichols? If after, what happened to their marriage? I don't have a death date for either of them.

Ralph

He and his wife, Margaret Viola (Strain) moved to Oregon and settled in Ontario to raise 5 children. Two of those are left of which my father William Wallace Laxson is one. I am one of 5 from Wm Wallace. We are now spread in Minn, CA, Alaska, and Idaho.

James Laxson

For all who are tracking the children of James Laxton, I would like you to know that his son James Laxton was not the one who was in Perry Co., TN in 1850. The James Laxson who was born approximately 1815 and living in TX in 1850 was his son. There is a Power of attorney given to John Laxson of Perry Co., TN by James Laxton of Montgomery Co., AR. He states "my father James Laxton". This James is the one who married first Rachel Royal in White Co., AR and then Mary Ann Winchester in Bell Co., TX. This man traded in salves in the 1840 and 1850's. He is still in Texas in 1860 but moved back to AR by 1870. I can't find him in 1870, but know he was working on the railroad the same as some of his sons. They would migrate from
AR to OK and then back again.

Rhodene
