Hi, I googled my name to see what might have came up and I found this 10 year old post, so I don't know if anyone is still looking at it or not. My name is Clarence Jeremy Leach, and my grandfather Robert Leach has been chasing his tree down also. I Don't know if he wold be interested in seeing if any are related or not, but I think his parents were in the Tenn-Kentucky area, I don't know where that leads to but message me back and I'll talk to him.
CJ Leach

Giles Leach NOT a son of Lawrence Leach immigrant?

I'm just now looking into my Leach ancestry. From previous readings I had attributed Giles Leach (who married Anna Nokes) as son of Lawrence Leach of Salem, MA. After reading through some of the messages on this site it looks like Giles was NOT son of Lawrence Leach. Does anyone have a clue as to who Giles' parents were?

Thanks.
Joanne

Hi Kathy!

It would seem to me that we are indeed first cousins from the information that you’ve included in your message! You’re grandmother Gladys was married to our grandfather Herbert.

From the information that I’ve gotten from my dad and some other relatives I’ve found through Ancestry, Gladys & Herbert were still married around 1933-1934 and your mother and aunt Jill were about 5 & 6. But then someone said that they thought that Jill was probably born in 1925 so I'm not sure which is correct. They also mentioned that one girl had dark hair and one had blonde. I’m guessing Jill was the dark haired one from the pictures I have of her. Also, that they lived off of one of the Boulevards in Philly in the Frankford section. It seems that Herbert met my grandmother Theresa about 1941. My father Charles was born in 1942 then Calvin in 1945. My dad says he remembers the girls coming to visit but then they just stopped visiting and he didn’t know why. Herbert died in August 1964, two months before my older sister was born, so I never got to meet him. My dad said he died from complications from throat cancer. I’m thinking it may have been pneumonia.

The day I signed onto Ancestry and began doing our family tree my dad asked if I could find his sisters. It’s been about 9 years since I posted that message and he still asks. I can’t wait to tell him about your message!! I have some information on the Leach/Hardiman side of the family if you’d like it. You can also e-mail me directly if you’d like, at ImCheeky@aol.com.

Hope to hear from you soon!! :D
Christi

I am very interested in corresponding with you. I was going through a family bible my mom gave me. My mom's maiden name is Lois Leach. In the bible she wrote that her father was Herbert Leach and her grandfather was Harry Leach. Also her grandmother's name entry had "(nee) Hardiman" printed above it. I can't remember her mother's name, cuz I'm a work right now. My mom was born in PA and moved to California w/her mom Gladys where she was adopted by her stepfather whose last name was Adams. My mom never knew her dad and never knew where he was. Hope to hear from you. If your post is related, then I believe we are cousins.
Thanks,
Kathy Begalla

Debra,
I am also a ggg grandchild of Richard Leach. I have worked on the Leach family genealogy for years. I don't think there is a way to establish who Richard's father was. If you are to believe the family genealogy of Zadick leach V it was Zadick lll. His genealogy says the Leach family sailed from Scotland to Germany in the 1600's. They sailed on to Maryland about 1706 and settled on the Patomic River 12 miles from Washington City. It skips from there to North Carolina. I find Richard Leach in the Maryland State Malitia in the Revolutionary War. We know that Richard was born in Maryland. I would like to know your line of descent. I would be glad to exchange information with you.

I Am:

George Leach
ghleach@ptsi.net

Mary Agnes Leach was the sister of my great-great-grandfather Andrew Leach born in 1820 in Wigtonshire, Scotland. He and his wife, Margaret Logan, along with son James (my great-grandfather) emigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Taymouth Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. They had a total of 14 children, several of whom died as infants. It appears they emigrated at about the same time and both ended up settling in Taymouth Township. I am currently working on the Leach family history and would like to exchange information. If interested, please email me at jlcolo@aol.com. I was born in Pontiac, Michigan, but have lived in Colorado Springs for the past 35 years. Regards. John

My Ancestor Andrew F. Leach came from Manchester England in 1831 from Liverpool via Queenstown to Philadelphia. He lived in Deleware, then Virginia (now West Virginia) where he first married about 1845, then was in Cincinnati where he remarried, maybe southern Indiana, then went to St Louis where he died in 1902.

At various times he was a farmer, a mailman, and a railroad watchman. He never was as glorious as a surgeon to the king.
