I would like to have a League surname project. I have already submitted my DNA to www.ftdna.com While I do not believe all Leagues are related the following are my objectives for such a project: To determine which League's are related to one another,To break through the brick wall in my ancestry (My earliest proven ancestor is Aaron League born in Virginia abt 1730.) And to determine the Land of origin of the League's. That is a fuzzy subject.On researching the name I haqve found it listed as English and also as Scottish and as a French derivative.I Know from my research that some Leagues did come from England and Ireland though I do not find League listed as an Irish surname. My personal theory has been that they originated inEngland though I have no proof. I am particularly interested in descendants of tThe William League who came to Maryland in 1680.
