First, thank you for your posts and interest. Maybe we can solve John's wife's name.

I changed the subject as we are not talking about Jesse Vincent...

The census that indicated FRA:
1860 TN LINCOLN CO PLEASANT PLAINS P. O. M653 Roll 1261 p 141, image 2 6/7/1860 by N? Leatherwood Dwg 111 Fam 111
Leatherwood, Sarah Head 73 F W $1500RE $600PP VA
Cole, S. 30 M W Farmer $500PP TN
(Her son-in-law, h/of dec'd daughter Sarah Ann)
on next page 142
Cole, Sarah 12 F W b TN (her granddaughter)
Blundell, A. W M 106 years M W b VA (HER FATHER)
F? W? Bonemann/Brourn? 100 M W b FRA

merely shows that another individual was living in Sarah's household who happened to be 100 yrs old and b in FRAnce. I couldn't determine exactly how that name was spelled.
Sarah's father's name is above his.

On the 1850 census I made an error, that Sarah was b in TN not TX. Looking at the census records on Heritage Quest with lousy handwriting of some of the census takers makes it difficult at times to knowwhat state is indicated.

Blundell is spelled various ways, as is Absalom. Blundol, Blundall, Blundel, Blunedell, Blumdel, etc. Absolom, Absolem, Absalem, etc...

Absalom Jr was born abt 1755.

Absalom Sr remarried in 1771 to Susanna Randall Delozier, a widow, and died in 1774. Thomas IV was his eldest son, who by 1776 was probably on his own at age 21, with Absalom Jr 4-5 years younger, but already 16. The other two sons of Absalom Sr had already died. 1776 Tithables for Westmoreland County, VA by George Turberville listed: Thomas BLANDEL - Tithables: Absalom BLANDEL; Arch Prue 4 (Himself, Absalom, and two slaves)

VA Mag of History Vol 10 p 230: 1782 Thomas Jr owned 7 slaves, Thomas Sr owned 0 slaves, William owned 1 slave and Absalom (Jr) owned 3 slaves Westmoreland Co. VA on List of Slaveowners. Jr and Sr denoted the younger and older, not necessarily father and son. William had to be Thomas and Absalom Jr's uncle, brother of their father Absalom Sr, as their brothers William (1736) and Garner (1764) both have already died. The older Thomas is Thomas III, William and Absalom Sr's brother.

The 1782 "personal property tax list" shows Absalom as a free white tithable over 16, with 3 slaves (no age category), 1 horse, 2 cattle.
1783 tax list shows him as self over 21, with 1 Black over 16, 3 blacks over 12, 1 horse, 2 cattle.
1784 tax list repeats 1783 listing except it says free over 21 for him.
By 1787 (April) he has no free white males over 16, 1 Black over 16, 3 blacks over 12, 2 horses, 4 cattle.

(This is Absalom, Jr. doing the accounting of his sister Sarah Baker Blundell (now Waite, Write/Wright, Hailey or Bailey?) to Thomas Blundell and the court, Thomas being the executor of Absalom Sr's will (he died 1774). Also, the accounting is necessary due to Sarah marrying, probably in 1785, when she no longer is considered an orphan. This definition is courtesy of Marty Hiatt who contributes greatly to the VALOUDOU-L mailing list on rootsweb.)
July 31,1787 (Virginia State Library) Westmoreland Co. Inv Bk 6 Pages 409 & 410, Reel 34
Absalom Blundell's Executive Account (of) Sarah B Blundell ( now Write or Waite or White) orphan of Absalom Blundell in Account with Thomas Blundell Executor--1787
DR (Debit) To Account for expenses furnished said orphan used from 1775 to 1780 £ 3.18. 11 1/2,
1781 to 1782 £ 1.3.0, 1783 £ 2.16.7 1/2, 1784 £ 6.25.10, 1785 £ 10.14.0,
To board and clothing Negro Girl £ 5.0.0,
to cash paid John Wright £ 0.3.0.
CR (Credit) By your part of your fathers estate as former Acct settled £ 28.1.6 ¼,
By hire of Negro Solly £ 11.6.6, Making a Shirt £ 0.3.0,
By your ¼ of a Negro sold after deduting expenses £ 57.0.0 £ 14.5.0.
Total credits were £ 56.16.0 1/4.
Balance due the orphan brought down _?_ Contra £16.15.1/4
(Credit side was greater than debit side. This amount would then be her net estate from her father's will.)
Then there is a restructure of additional debit and credit perhaps to show a total balance of estate as
£ 56.16.4. (15 Pounds, 16 Shillings, 4 pence) Wrong - £16.15.1/4

This has Willy Arnold, John B. Leatherwood, Absalom Blundol, and 10 lines down Robert Wood.
The name under Robert Wood is John Wright. Could this be Sarah Baker Blundell, sister of Absalom, and her husband? It works out to 1M 16-26 1M 45+ 1F 45+ 2 Agriculture 1BMS -16 Sarah and John, if that is who she married would both be over 45.

(referring to his son's wife Jane)

I already posted the 1850 census record thatshows Absalom Blundell.

Absalom Blundell in 1852 apparently applied for a pension in TN, where he served is unknown; the outcome is: Rejected/Suspended Pensions, 1852. For further proof and more precise speciflcation. Papers withdrawn by E. J. Shields.

Absalom and wife unknown are believed to have had (so far)
Permelia b abt 1783 VA, Mary b abt 1785 VA, Sarah B abt 1787 VA, and William b abt 1792. Permelia md Robert Wood of NC and had Sarah, James, Absalum, Thomas, William, Michael, John, Elizabeth, Nancy, Abraham, and Anna.
Mary md James Arnold of VA and had William Blundell Arnold.
Sarah md John B. Leatherwood of VA?SC? and had Baswell, Norris, Lucinda, Jesse Vincent, Elisha P., Sarah Ann,and Spencer F.
William married Jane Greer and had Henry, and Jane or another wife, had L., Spencer, Isabel, Jonathan, Sarah Elizabeth, and Ann...William did marry an Elizabeth Merriatt in January 1845, they ended up in 1860 in Lavaca, TX. Henry was mentioned in a grandmother's will, but I dont know which grandmother, would love to find a copy of it. I gather it is Isabel's even though he is not included in the SC will posting above.

I also have Absalom, Jr. backwards. But this will give you something to work on.
