Thanks for your reply, but my Mary Emma Leek is listed in the census as being born in Ireland and apparently migrated through Maryland to Monroe County Ohio where she married John Hughes and both are burried at St Sylvester's Church Cemetery in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio....

This is a stretch. My family are the Lake's another spelling
variant. John Lake born 1781 in NYC moved to Ohio, Gurenesy/ Noble county in the early 1800's. He was in the war of 1812.

He married a Betsy Mathews in 1805 location Washington County, Ohio.

Like I said this is a stretch.

I am researching a Mary E Leek born abt 1820 in Maryland.. She moved to Monroe County Ohio and married a John Hughes. Both are burried in St Sylvestor's cemetery in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio... Can you help?

My Leek cousin would dearly love to have a photograph of her great-grandparents Gotifred Leuck/Leek (1835-1901) and his wife Earnestine Wilhelmina "Minnie"(1839-1921). They were married in Germany in 1859, immigrated to the US in 1865, and settled in Independence, Montgomery, KS. Both were buried in Mt Hope Cemetery in Independence. Gotifred and Minnie had six sons: Julius Amel, Edward E, Ludwig T, Henry A, William Godfried, and Roy Robert Leek. An image scanned to this board would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

The Guy Leaman HOLLIDAY listed at the end of the previous link is/was my great-grandfather. I would love to share what I have on this family. Guy's father was William Carrol HOLLIDAY b about Dec 1844 in TN. I believe this William Carrol HOLLIDAY was raised by James and Massey LEEK. James & Massy had a son, George Washington LEEK b 1850, who listed his mothers maiden name as HOLLIDAY. My speculation is that Massy LEEK was a HOLLIDAY and William Carrol HOLLIDAY lost his parents and was raised by James & Massy LEEK. I believe that the family that I am researching is connected to the same Leek family that was being discussed here.
Gincey Brown b. 6-12-181 in Tn married Absolom Wells Robbins in Johnson/Massac Co. Ill.
Her sister Melinda b. 8-3-1820 in Tn married Egbert O. Leek.
Another sister Niosa (Nicey) b. 6-26-1827 married Alexander B. Leek.
Their brother Williamson M. Brown married a sister to Alexander and Egbert. Her name was Elizabeth Rebecca Jane Leek b. 2-28-1828 d. 4-28-1916 in Metropolis,Massac Co. Ill.
I am looking for information on the parents of Elizabeth, Alexander, and Egbert. The information that I have is that their father was either James or John Leek b. about 1782 in North Carolina and Rebecca Unknown b. about 1784 in Virginia. Can anyone clairify who there parents were?

Parents of the Brown children mentioned here were Richard Brown b. 12-22-1781 in Va and died about 1845 in Massac County, Ill. and Nancy Palmer b. 2-24-1790 in either S.C. or Ga. and died after 1850 in Massac County, Ill.

The Holliday connection is through the daughter of Elizabeth Rebecca Jane Leek and Williamson M. Brown. She was Josephine Brown b. 8--31-184 in Metropolis, Massac County Ill. and died 1-3-1926 in Paducah , McCracken Co., Ky. She married William Carrol Holliday 12-27-1868 in Massac County, Ill. They had at least one son that I am aware of. Guy Leahman Holliday.

I have not been able to find parental information on Allen, other than some contradictory statements to census takers in 1880 and 1900.

The only thing I know is that they lived in Knox County, TN on 26 August 1907 when my grandmother was born. My grandmother is Jessie Elizabeth Leek Thornton and she had 2 sisters Grace and Ruby, but thats it.

I have a Richard Deshay Leek b. 10/7/1841 Pulaski Co., MO, d. 3/25/1913. Joplin, MO. The following is not my research, I found it on the Internet. Richard was a brother to John Leek my gg-grandfather. If this is your line I would be glad to send you a gedcom going back to the 1500s in England

Does anybody know about any Leeks that ended up in B.C. Canada? My grandfathers name was Archibald(Archie) Leek. He later changed it to Archer Lee. He has a brother Frank who is still living in Canada and his mother was Sarah May McGillis Leek.

Alan, Joseph B. Leake is buried in Oakdale cemetery in Davenport, Iowa. We have visited his gravesite while on a trip to Iowa. My ggrandfather, John Shannon (Co K) also served in the 20th Iowa. Regards, Larry Shannon

Married Jehu Gosnell October 29, 1829, Vigo County, Indiana.

I am writing again, to see if anyone has any info on my LEEK family. In the last few months I found out that apparently what we were told, that Grandpa Amos LEEK was born in McCracken county KY, was wrong, seems he was born at Lowes,Graves,KY. Still have no info on gggrandparents-Harrison LEEK and Melissa SHAW. They had son-John Franklin LEEK, and probably others I don't know about. John was married 1st to Mittie POWERS-know nothing about her. They had Amos b.1896, Mamie b.1898, married Joe Justice. And son Elmer.
