Dave,

I'm sending along what I have regarding Geoffroy & his parents. The data were provided me via copies of original documents by a genealogist in Amiens with the exception of Vincent & Marie's birth dates which I picked up on various internet sites. The comments are a bit explanatory as I wrote it for my siblings. Should you have any questions you can reach me at outlier@comcast.net. Regards, Ray

Vincent LEFEBVRE. Married Marie DUFLO in 1607 at the church of St.Germain D'Amiens, Amiens, Picardie. Both born 1587 in the parish of St. Germain in Amiens. Dates of deaths unknown.
The birth of their first son in 1613 was followed two years later by the birth of twins, one of whom was Geoffrey. Picardie, originally a province in the north of France is no more, having been broken up & incorporated into other Departments with Amiens now in the Department of Somme. The church of St. Germain still stands.
Geoffroy LEFEBVRE dit St. Jean, born 1 Jan, 1615, St-Germain-D'Amiens, Picardie, baptized 17 May, 1615, St-Germain-D'Amiens, Amiens, Picardie, died 4 Jan, 1680. In 1636 he married Jeanne MILET dit Mansion in St-Germain D'Amiens. She was born about May, 1615, baptized September 11 in the neighboring parish of St. Leu (as Jhenne but also spelled Jehanne in archaic French), deceased 30 April, 1685.

Geoffroy, also spelled Geffroi, is called Lefebvre dit St. Jean in some accounts & so may have been the first in the line to use this dit name (see below). Initially he is described in baptismal records as a “portefaix” (porter), then as a “crocheteur du cay” (one who uses hooks to carry loads on the docks) and finally as a “marchand” (merchant). Jeanne’s surname also can be found spelled as Millet, Millé or Milé and with the dit name Mansion. Dit names, which have neither positive nor negative connotations, came into being for the purpose of further identification & could be chosen from any source, e.g. occupation, physical or character description, place of origin, etc. They are interchangeable, e.g. Jeanne Milet or Jeanne Mansion & reversible, e.g. Jeanne Milet-Mansion or Jeanne Mansion-Milet. The couple had 10 children between 1637 & 1657 of whom Jean-Baptiste was the fifth.
Hi! I also descend from Anthanase Lefebvre born abt 1884 he married Exilia Boucher/Bougie. Their daughter Leonide was my great grandmother. She married Isaie Menard in St Brigide-Montreal CA. Their daughter was an only child, my grandmother Marie "Lucille" Menard. Leonide divorced Isaie about 1901/02 and sent Lucille at about age 4, to live during the school year, in what I presume to be a girls boarding school in Montreal. She remained there, visiting with her mother in Massachusetts during the summer months for a number of years, til she was about 16. I would love to find that school and learn more of its history. My grandmother was trained in sewing, piano, organ, singing and all matters relating to keeping a home. Certainly that was a goal for young women in those days.

Lucille married George Joseph Maxime Fournier first by eloping to Vermont and later in St Joseph's in Worcester, MA.

I would love to research this further. Leonide looked very much like she had Indian ancestors and family history claims that a close relative was married to an Iroquois. Any one with added data please get in touch with me.

Michelle, I just stumbled across your posting of Sept 8, and can't tell you how thrilling it is to finally see someone out there from the same family tree! I believe we are related, although I don't have the time right now to figure out exact details. I've spent decades working on the LeFebvre (my grandfather's spelling) line, and am currently working on translating our family lineage from French to English from the Pierre Lefevre (1646-1694) story published in Canada circa 1937. I can tell you off the top of my head that our ancestors originated in France, some in Normandie, Rouen, & Laprairie, among others. My name is Kathy, I live in MN & my email is katjoem@hotmail.com, so let's keep in touch & share what we've learned. I'm guessing you live in IL, MN, WI or another northern state?
My great grandfather is Charles J. Erno(born 23 Jan 1872 in
Quebec). His siblings: Rosalie, born ?; Julia born 24 Dec 1858; Marie born abt 1864; Francois(Frank) born 15 oct 1866; William born abt 1869; Albina born abt 1877; Ernest born 15 Nov 1882. Their parents were: Mitchel(Michel)Erno (born abt 1829)& Maire Rebecca Ouimette(born 1839 in Quebec; died 25 oct 1918 in Swanton, Vermont, USA). The Marie born abt 1864 was married to Edward Lefebvre. I've heard the same story about the name change from Renaud to Erno. Looks like we have similar surnames in our family tree but not sure how they'e connected. (I don't have Adolph Lefebvre or Joseph & Emilie Erno(Renaud).

My grandmother Georgine Josephine Erno(1892-1985) was born in Quebec,& I've heard the same story about Renaud being changed to Erno. In my famiy tree I have an Emelie Erno(maiden name)(1904-1991)- parents were William & Lena. Also I have a Marie Erno(born 1864) who married a Edward Lefebvre. Edward would be your Adolph's son's generation. I think most of my fammily lived in Quebec. I wonder if there's any connection between our families.

Hello,

I am also descended from Geoffroy Lefebvre and Jeanne Mille. I would love to discuss the line with you, especially the parentage of Geoffroy, as I do not show a Vincent Lefebvre or Marie Duflo in his parentage. I show a Julien Lefebvre and a Magdelaine Esrable, but there dates do not seem like it is possible they are his parents.

Dave

Hi, I am researching my husbands family line. He descends from Mathurin Dube and Rene Suzanne.
Don't know how far back your work went as you posted a few years ago. But FYI I'm from the same line which begins with Vincent who married Marie Duflo in Amiens, St. Germain's parish in 1636. Both were born in 1587. I have my entire direct line based on marriage records & a limited # of birth/death dates from that time. Let me know if you need any of this info. Reach me at outlier@comcast.net.

Re: Martin LEFEBVRE

1)Martin Lefebvre spouse = Suzanne Turner m. 25th Oct 1845 in Ste Ursule Quebec

2)Father: Ignace Lefebvre, spouse = Marie Gervais m. Jan 7th 1811 Terrebonne Quebec

3)Father: Pierre Lefebvre, spouse = Josephte Collard 4th April 1785 St Louis de Terrebonne Quebec

4)Father: Michel Lefebvre, spouse Marie Louise Dubois unknown dates: "Birth-Marriage and Death". These last two are considered "out of population"; meaning they where out of registers in Quebec. I've been searching for a trace of them for 8 months and this is what i've found:

Pierre Lefebvre was an Englishman, meaning he was a speaking English person. This we find on the register of birth/death of his first baby Oct 1785 St-Louis de Terrebonne.

On the baptism register of his second baby, the godfather his names Andre Heinlein who is à soldier of Hesse-Hanau and a friend of Pierre Lefebvre.

All this seems to indicate that Pierre Lefebvre was a "loyalist" of New England that took refuge in Quebec a short while before 1785.

One of his grandson (Ignace son of Ignace 2) went back living in USA in Wisconsin (Oconto). Maybe he went because his grandfather was born around there somewhere. But I did'nt find anything yet of Michel Lefebvre or Pierre Lefebvre in Wisconsin between the date 1720 and 1783.

Hoping these infos will help

André Lefebvre

Charles LEFEBVRE / DUKE - b 21 May 1874, St-Polycarpe, Quebec

I have a great uncle who was baptized Charles Lefebvre, born 1974-05-21 in St-Polycarpe, Quebec who left for the USA in the later 1890s after abandoning his wife shortly after his marriage (1895-06-24) to join his sister Marie Angélique Lefebvre (married to Augustin Laparé in 1884) and know they both were in Goldfield, Nevada during the gold rush. She died there in 1909-01-13 where she had built a hotel and was then a widow. Charles ended up in Cincinnati where he died 1946-04-07 and was then married to Jewel Mc Donough (spelling?).

I know Charles changed his identity when he lived in the USA and was also known as "Duke". I believe the local paper Cincinnati Times Star published an obituary for him and need to know under what identity he was known so I can do further search about him such as census info etc. I was told he had been in the Cincinnati area since the 1920s if not before.

Here is the exact reference:
Title: Obituaries
Publication info: 1946
Held by: MAIN
Subject term: Duke, Charles
Citation: Cincinnati Times Star 04/09/1946 7:3
and: Obituaries

Pub Date: 1946
Copy Info: 1 copy available at Main Library.
1 copy total in all locations.
Holdings
Main Library Copies Material Location
NEWSPAPER ARTICLE 1 Microfilm Main-2nd Floor - Magazines & Newspapers - Ask at Desk

Can someone help me out? If Cincinnati was not so far, I'd go there but it is quite a distance from Montreal...
