Ben Leffew of Franklin Co Va

Loooking for any relatives of Ben. He was born around 1872 in Va, lived in Patrick Co and Franklin Co, married first to Harriet, had 1 daughter Ethel that I know of. Then second wife was Jennie C Wagoner of Va. They settled in ALmance, NC. Jennie was their boarder in 1910 census Patrick Co, with 3 children- she being single. Then their next door neighbor in Franklin Co on the 1920 census with 2 more sons. Said she was married but no husband to be found and still using her maiden name. I think she and Ben were getting along and she may have been having his children. Youngest sons were George Henry and Jessie L born in 1914 and 1919

Re: Virginia - Leffews

I am actually looking for relatives of Ben leffew from Franklin Co. On the 1910 census Patrick Co he was married to Harriet and had no children. with them as a boarder was Jennie C Wagoner with 3 children and she was single. On the 1920 Long Branch, Franklin Co, Ben and Harriet have a 14 yr old daughter names Ethel - no idea where she would have been on the 1910 census. However Jennie Wagoner lived next to them and had sons George Henry and Jessie L. Says she was married but no husband anywhere. I know she eventually maried Ben Leffew as I have a copy of her death cert. So I was wondering if anyone knew of these Wagoner children or Ethel Leffew and if the Wagoner children were actually Leffew children. Jennie was my grandfather's neice. Her parents were Henry Wagoner and Laura Adeline Conner, Laura being my great aunt. Ben and Jennie eventually wound up in Almance, Orange Co, NC but she died in Sanford, Lee Co. NC. Do you know anything about Ben?

I am researching William Samuel Leffew (b -1858 in Crab Orachard, Lincoln Co, KY, d- 1931 in Houston, Texas).
His parents were Samuel Leffew and Arah Belle (maiden name Sandlin or McVey). He was a newspaperman by trade and published a paper in Benton county, Indiana.
He was featured in the old Indiana biography book which may be viewed at www.countyhistory.com/books/doc.benton/044.htm
The bio makes references to his grandfather (Samuel Leffew) as born in TN with family connections to Louisiana.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone with ties to this family.

I have a Richard Leffew who looks like married Nancy? and was later divorced (per census records), a Martha Jane who married Newberry T. I know nothing of this family and would like to have dates and to know where they are buried to be sure their sites are being taken care of.

Thank you for any help with this!
Dan

Parentage of Pleasant H. Leffew

Seeking any information on the parentage of Pleasant Henry Leffew who married Nelly Rook. Tradition has his parents as Elias and Rebecca Quigley Leffew but information I have obtained does not indicate such. Elias never migrated to Tennessee and Pleasant is not mentioned in death records related to Rebecca so it is doubtful that he is the son of Elias. Does anyone have anything that definitely ties Pleasant to Elias? Or is he maybe the son of Joseph?

Hi my name is Jenniffer Leffew and I'm interested in doing some research on my family. My fathers name is William Hobert Leffew, his fathers name is James Noah Leffew and I believe his fathers name is George Leffew. I know my dad was born in Virginia or West Virginia and I believe the others as well but not 100% sure. I've got to meet some of my family members in West Virginia although I live in Cleveland OH so I don't see them much. I'd just like to know more about the Leffew line seeing that it isn't really a common name and I could only imagine that we're all related in some way. I hope to hear from someone........take care all and GOD Bless!
PS
I posted some pics of some of my family members along with this message. I'm the blonde in the pics, my sister Holly is the tall brunette, my father is the old guy and my brother Lance is the tall blonde who passed away a year ago of Leukemia.

Gloria,

I do not have a William Patterson Leffew in my small Leffew/Lefew/Liefew/Lephue file, but he does sound familiar.

The Lefew line is a difficult one to trace as the few land records available do not indicate children or relationships, others than "and wife".

There is a William "B" Lefew buried in Montgomery County, VA but I have not found who he is or how connected to other Lefews.

My line is via a Josiah Leffew from Franklin then to Floyd. It seems that many of the Leffews moved to Montgomery Co. in the 1880s or earlier.

I wish someone had a family bible out there on the Floyd/Franklin Lefew lines!

Please let me know if you have any dates or parents, etc. on him and I'll keep looking for the Lefews in my line...perhaps they will connect.

Is the LaFleur name derived from Lefew? I never heard that before. There is a Lafleur cemetery in Pulaski County that I have never been to. Of course, Pulaski was once part of Floyd or Montgomery County (not sure which one without looking through records).

Best of luck
