Hi, I just 'bumped' into this... my Lehman/Lehmann came from Baden-Baden. Joseph [b. 1830 - d. 1910] came to America about 1856 with his bride Maria Anna Fallert. They were married in MO, and had one son, Joseph, born in MO. They moved to Burlington, IA and had 7 more children there. The family were very strict Catholics. As per their son, Jacob Lehmann's family history in Des Moines County, IA 1905?... stated that his father was a musician, same as his "grandfather" who also came to America. No name for this grandfather!!! I can't locate this grandfather [b. about 1805 - d. about 1880]. Thank you!

Hi, my name is Dayle Middleton Ritter and while I was googling my name I came across your posting regarding Patty Lehman. I was friends with Patty in elementary school and my twin sister and I are mentioned in her diary. I was wondering if anyone claimed the diary and if not, if I might be able to obtain it.
Thank you for considering my request.

Your web site seems to be down now, but I think I saw references to Ohio. Do you know where in Ohio? My Lehman's were in Ohio from 1820's-1930's. They were in the Columbus and Dayton areas.

They immigrated from Switzerland in 1730 to Philadelphia, then went to Maryland before moving on to Ohio. Johann Adam Lehman founded the United Brethren Church in Maryland.

Just throwing this out there, but I'm also a Lehman descendant. My Lehmans came over from Germany (exact location unknown at this time, but census records indicate born there in more than one case) with Hermann (born 1846, immigration year 1872 to Pennsylvania) and Amanda (nee unknown) Lehmann (name later was spelled Lehman). I know of only one child definitively at this point, William Edward Lehman my 2x great grandfather born in Philadelphia, PA in Oct 1888/1889. They immigrated sometime prior to 1900 to Massachusetts, where the family settled. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Lehman, and the name is still carried on through her siblings. Feel free to contact me at kathysmi@hotmail.com. Always love to hear new input. I have his line through my grandmother fairly well detailed and will be working on it for a long time to come.

hope to hear from you.
Kathy

Hello,

I'm reading your posts and would like to know if any of the TX or OK Lehmans know of a Marie Lehman who lived in Oklahoma City in about 1925? I is likely she was estranged from her family and may have been involved with a man, Winship or Wirt Petty who died in an accident in 1925. She may have followed him from TX to OK. She had a son, Leo, born about 1915? If anyone knows anything, please let me know. I've searched and searched and have never found any information. Thanks so much and appreciate your time. I just started all this myself and my mother has just given me some hand written notes from my grandmother Mary Elizabeth Hamel Lehman married to Harry Daniel Lehman. According to the notes and Death Certificate for Harry Daniel Lehman his father was Frank George Lehman, Mother was Rebecca Selena Britton Lehman. On the Badum side Henry Badum was married to Elizabeth Badum both from Germany 1860.

The Kobers were not original settlers to the village of Susannental. There was a Lehmann in the original settler list of 1767. Please email me off message board and I will try to share what I have with you. If unable to find my email here, do a search of Susannental and you will find the address on the web page.

Hi. I hope you are still on here. I may have a connection to your Lehmans. I have been trying to find the family of Sarah Ann Lehman (married William L Walzer from Harrisburg), born about 1860 and came across what appears to be her family. In the 1870 census, there is a "Layman" family, which seems to match a "Lehman" family in the 1860 census (I could not find a corresponding "Layman" family to disprove this):
1870: http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=View&r=an&dbi...
1860: http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=View&r=an&dbi...
The Sarah in that family seems to be my Sarah Ann Lehman. That is my possible connection to these census records. Now, for your connection, most of the information that you have posted about that family in these boards seems to match with the family in the census records. Several of the children are there, the parents match, and the location matches. If we are not connected, maybe at least you are. Have you found any other information that confirms any of this?

My grandmother Ida Frieda Lehman(n) had a brother Martin, who she was so proud of. I am just starting a tree on Ida. My mother would spell the name both Lehman/Lehmann and am not finding out which was the correct spelling? I have posted a couple of pictures of Earnest (how mother spelled it) on the family tree. I also have pictures of their sisters Alma, and Alga. The oldest sister Emma I have little info on. I have a few pictures of Martin and 1 of the youngest brother Adolph. Grandma loved to visit Martin's dairy farm and would say "I could eat of the floor of his barn before I would some woman's kitchen table!! That is what I remember about my gr uncle Martin.

Hi! Glad you got the pictures.

My family is sooo bad about communication. They just don't talk. I really don't know who is taking care of Jesse. I would really like to have one. Is Family Tree Maker the best? About how much do you think it would run me? I really need to look into that.

Talk to you soon. Have a wonderful day!

Trish

Betty jo (we called her Aunie pronounced a Knee), Uncle Wayne and Maxine were their only children. Maxine died when I was a baby. Aunie died at least 6 years ago, and Uncle Wayne is still living, though I heard he has been sick. Uncle Wayne's has a wife named Carol. Maxine was my grandmother, she was married to Orby Smith. They had 3 sons. My dad, Michael, and my uncles Rodney and John. Rodney was married to Debbie (sorry don't know anything about her, the only thing I remember about her was her mother, we called her Gramma Datsun). They have 2 girls both grown now of course. Their names are Jennifer and Melissa. Uncle John has a son named Matthew, he has to be at least in his early 20's now. I have 2 siblings, a brother and a sister. I only have one picture of my grandmother (Jesse) and none of my grandfather (Edwin) If you don't mind sharing what you have I would be so grateful. I would be glad to scan the one I have for you. It is my grandmother, my father and my sister, at my sisters wedding. I certainly would not mind sharing that with you at all!!
Trish

Good morning!!! Guess what!! In going through my pictures I found some I did not remember I have. I have begged and begged for pictures of the family and never can get any. I foud myself alone in my mothers house one day and managed to swipe these few photos. One is of my sister, my dad, and gramma (Jesse). One is of Uncle Wayne, gramma, and my sister, I am assuming at Pap's funeral. I can't be for sure because even though I lived in the same town, nobody told me he had passed away. The other is at Sissy's(Betty Jo's daughter) wedding. I will send these photos to your email. I am very new at this and I do not know how to attach them here. I don't know how far you want to go, but I could probably get permission from my brother and sister to send photos of her kids. If you want, I would be glad to send you a couple of mine.

Oh...Jesse, as far as I know, she is still alive, but has Alzheimers. She would be of no help to you at all. I don't know how to reach any of the others, but I will see what I can do.

Like I told you before, I am very new at this, and most if not all of the information I have, I problably got from your posts. I am truly fascinated by all this, but I have a 9 year old, a full time job, and my alcoholic husband just quit drinking. I really have a lot going on and very little time for research (and very little money). I would love to keep in touch with you. If you are willing to share with me what you have I would be eternally grateful. My 16 year old just showed up so I have to run see what he needs, then I will scan those pictures and get them to you today.

Trish

Trish

Thank you so much for the photos. I have not thought about Pap's dog in years. That dog LOVED my pap!!! I am trying to remember the dogs name, I want to say Rusty, but really I am not sure. Tomorrow I will dig out the picture I have and scan it to my computer so I can send it to you. Thank you again. I would love anything you can share on the Denson side and the Lehmann side. If I can answer any questions for you, please let me know.

Trish

Abraham Lehman, his wife Maria Stewig and their children walked from Pennsylvania to Markham Ontario in 1826. Years later (maybe in the late 1830's) their son Jacob Lehman walked to Ohio from Markham stayed for awhile then walked back to Markham.
Would your story of going to Canada be for one of these trips? Would you be willing to share the story?

George C subsequently left her for another performer and traveled with Max Spiegel's vaudeville show. Interested in any info and willing to share what I've collected.

Great. I've called my cuz in OK to see if he has any info on your line or photos too. He said as he recalls, Edwin John Lehmann was a trucker. He is interested to find out if there are any living Lehmann males in your Paul Rudolph line.

Also,on Edwin John Lehmann & Jessie Lee Denson-Lehmann... they lived with the Franke family in Cuero before moving to San Antonio area (we found them in the census). Carl Ludwig Gustav Lehmann and Wilhemine (we have yet to find out her maiden name, she was his 2nd wife) had one natural child, being Augusta Lehmann who married William Franke. They had at least one child, being Katie Augusta Franke who was living in the census with the Franke gals in the census where Edwin John & Jessie Lee were living. Apparently Augusta Lehmann-Franke died after Katie was born. We do not have a clue but think she may have died shortly after child birth with Katie and/or in the last devastating hurricane that hit Indianola. Without an 1890 census we cannot tell whether she was living after the hurricane or not.

Do you have contact info to talk to Jessie Lee Denson-Lehmann? She may remember Katie Augusta Franke or her mother Augusta Lehmann (daughter of Carl Ludwig Gustav Lehmann and Wilhemine).

My mother had contact info for Edwin John & Jessie but she passed away and I do not know how to make contact with Jessie nor do I know if she still lives in San Antonio or not.

My 2nd cuz Bill in OK is going to go thru some of his files and will let us know what he may have stored.

Hi Byron;
I too, am a Lehman from Jewish lines. Adolph Nathan Lehman was from Berlin, Germany (1870-1914), emmigrating to the US in 1889. All I know of his family is his father's name was Aaron, and he had brothers that also came to the US. I have yet to approach my two brothers for DNA testing. Guess that's next.
Renee Lehman Milton
rlmilton@verizon.net

My mother Emma (Lehman)Seaman was the granddaughter of Fredrick Lehman who came to America from Germany in the mid 1800's. His wife died in Germany and he brought two sons with him, Charles (who never married) and Frank. They settled in Milwaukee, Wis. He remarried and had several more children, Albert, Herman, Gustave, Ida, Augusta and O'Delia. Albert is my grandfather and he and his brothers lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the town of DeTour and lumbered for a living. I am trying to locate relatives from the first family of Frank,SR, and his sons Frank, Jr. and Willie Lehman. Frank, Jr. had three children, Delorse, Kenneth and Francis. Willie had two girls, Mary "Edna" and Lora Lehman. If you have any information on this Lehman family I would be forever grateful...Thanks...Rochelle

My great-grandmother was Elizabeth Marie Lehman (b 01/26/1889 in Susannental; d 08/21/1975 in Park City, Montana) She immigrated around 1908 to the Park City/Billings area. She married my great-grandfather, Frederick John Kober (b 08/22/1885 Susannental; d 09/22/1973 Park City, Montana) on 08/24/1908 in Susannental. I have hit brick walls with both sides. Any information you have would be appreciated.
