Miller, Henry Living with Lehr, WIlliam

Lehr/Miller

Searching for info on a Henry C. Miller b 8-20-1847 d 5-6-1906 in Wayne Co. OH. I am searching for the parents and birth location of Henry and I only have the following clues.

According to Henry’s Obit his parents died “when he was but a small boy” and “leaving him homeless and among strangers”. He was taken in by a William Lehr, where he stayed until he was a young man. I hope that by finding some info on this William Lehr, I will find the area where Henry was born.

Henry’s wife was Mary Catherine Ritter b 2-24-1853. Not sure if it is the same Mary, but I have located a Mary Catherine Ritter born “abt 1852” that was born in the Little Sandusky area of Wyandot Co. OH.

Other Millers from the Wayne/Medina Co, OH area, and in fact are buried in the same small country cemetery as Henry are from the Miller line that moved from Fairfield Co. OH to Wyandot Co, OH. I suspect that Henry may have been part of this line, although it confuses me that he was considered homeless and was taken in by William Lehr unless there were no other Millers in the area or if William Lehr was related some how.

Hi,

I have some Lair/Lehr ancestors from Logan County, Ohio and some of the names are the same.

The first ancestor I have is David Lair, b. 4-27-1827 in Virginia (perhaps), m. Mary Ann Short, b. 9-16-1834. In the 1860 census, they are living in Hawkins, TN, but by the 1870 census they had moved to Logan County, Ohio. They were still in Richland, Logan County, OH in the 1880 census as well. We have not come to a definitive reason for the move from TN to Ohio other than there had to be family in the area.

Their children were as follows:

Daniel Thomas, b. 2-19-1853, m. Centhia Jane Miller (spelling on given name is debated), b. 9-6-1854. I am descended from this line and have more info if needed. They both died in Ashley County, AR.

Sarah Ann, b. 1-29-1855 in TN

Susanna Virginia, b. 2-24-1857, buried in Alger, Ohio (Preston Cemetary)

Margaret Jane, b. 9-4-1859 in TN; d. 1-11-1927 in Little Rock, AR

Dora (LaDora) Elizabeth, b. 1-29-1862, d. 1-29-1944 in Grand Falls, TX

Jacob N., b. 10-4-1864 in LOGAN COUNTY, OHIO. D. 1920 in Ashley County, AR

TWINS: John William Cline and Nancy Catherine Minerva, b. 6-8-1867 in Logan County, Ohio (The boy died the same year.) Nancy lived until 1917 and is buried in Texarkana, AR.

Henry Hamilton, b. 4-29-1871, d. 1953 in Texarkana, AR

Mary Viola, b. 9-5-1876 in Logan County, Ohio, d. 9-29-1955 in Texarkana, AR

If this could possibly be someone's line, even with a different spelling of Lair, please contact me.

Thanks,
Sarah

I am doing genealogical research on Lehrs. I have been trying to locate my great-great grandfather. I believe he is one of the sons of William Manson Lehr, either John or Eugene in Carroll County Mississippi. My great-great grandmother was Mary I. SEALES LEHR. She traveled to Zwolle, Sabine Parish, Louisiana with her young son, William Edward LEHR between 1890 and 1900 following the death of her husband (either John/Eugene).

Do you have any information about the children of William Manson Lehr?

Anything you could you provide me would be extremely appreciated.

My great grandfather, William Edward LEHR, Sr. was born to Mary I. SEALE LEHR and John Eugene LEHR on August 13, 1890 in Carroll County Mississippi.

Around 1895, Mary and her son William left Vaiden, Mississippi in Carroll County and arrived in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. The story told throughout the family is that John Eugene LEHR (her husband) and her two daughters had passed away due to an illness between 1890 and 1895. We have never been able to locate John Eugene LEHR's grave.

Mary I. SEALE LEHR raised my great grandfather until she passed away in 1900 and was buried at Bayou Scie United Methodist Church Cemetery in Zwolle, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. William Edward LEHR, Sr. passed away in 1957 and is buried in Bayou Scie as well.

If anyone out there has any information concerning JOHN EUGENE LEHR, please contact me by replying to this post or e-mail me at jonathan@jonathanneel.com.

Thanks,
Jonathan Neel
Sabine Parish, Louisiana

There are many, many Waletzko's here in Minnesota. Actually there are three groups of them. Not sure how all related, however, there is a young man who lives in Apple Valley, I believe who has gone back to Opole, Poland to do research. If you are interested, e-mail me and I'll do what I can to find him.
I know some of the earlier Waletzkos left for California in the early 1900s. Most remained here in MN. There's an original group in Willow River, MN and Holdingford, MN and some other MN town. All farmers, but unsure how those three groups are related.
