I think it is likely that they did marry in port hood.
From what I understand there was a couple of fires that destroyed a lot of vital records for Port Hood, Inverness county. I plan to contact some of the local churches to see if they can come up with a record as soon as time will allow.
I recently came in contact with one of Rufus Young's descendants living in canada. I would have to review notes to tell you exactly how they are related but she is i believe a g-g-granddaughter. If you are interested in them let me know and I will pass on info. If you want to fill in a few blanks on Archibalds descendants let me know also.
Do you know if the young family is related to the surname Campbell? This surname maybe on Isabella Cameron's side.

Hello Donna,

I think Archibald Young and Isabella Cameron get married between 1881 and 1886, at Port Hood.

Why? Isabella lived with her parents in 1881 at Port Hood: Hugh Cameron and Jennet. The first child of Archie and Bella, Frederick Hugh Young was born the July 1, 1887 at Port Hood (according to 1901 Census). They moved to Halifax between 1901 and 1911.

Tell me with you find something!

All the best,
Andre

It's ahnentafel numbering -- person 1 is the person whose ancestry is being listed. People 2 and 3 are his parents (father and mother respectively). People 4 and 5 are person 2's parents, while 6 and 7 are person 3's parents. If a person is numbered N, then their father gets number 2N, and their mother gets number 2N+1. To get from the parents to the child, divide the father's number (one less than the mother's number) by 2.

So the parents of
38 - Claude BOUDROT ca 1663-1740
are
76 - Michel BOUDROT ca 1600-1688/1693 and
77 - Michelle AUCOIN ca 1621-1706,
and
132 - Mathurin THIBODEAU 1605 and
133 - Marie DEBEAU 1609
are the parents of
66 - Pierre THIBODEAU ca 1631-1704.
Robert Kim Stevens says this about Catherine Misener:
---BEGIN---
[Benjamin Young married] Catherine Misener, ca. 1832. She was b. 12 April 1812 at Lower East Chezzetcook, the daughter of Andreas Misener and Catherine Magdalena Shuffelburg, and d. before 1871 when her husband was enumerated as a widower.
----END----

I can show you the ancestry I have for Benjamin Young. Unfortunately there is a weak link near the beginning. My only sources for Frederick's parents (and grandparents) are secondary -- Msgr. Melanson (a dubious source) and Kim Stevens (better, but he only gives general sources -- nothing to indicate where this information in particular came from).

Anything pre-1714 is checked against Stephen White's Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Acadiennes.

Generation 1
1 - Benjamin YOUNG 1846-1929
Generation 2
2 - Frédéric LeJEUNE ca 1795
3 - Catherine MISENER 1812-/1871
Generation 3
4 - Vincent LeJEUNE ca 1755
5 - Marie NAUGLE ca 1765
6 - Andreas Misener
7 - Catherine Magdalena Shuffelburg
Generation 4
8 - Pierre LeJEUNE ca 1720-1752/
9 - Marie LeBLANC 1719
10 - Matthias NAUGLE
11 - Sophia ?CONRAD
Generation 5
16 - Pierre LeJEUNE ca 1689-1752/
17 - Jeanne BENOIT ca 1692
18 - Jacques LeBLANC /1701-1743
19 - Catherine BOUDROT +/1731
Generation 6
32 - Pierre LeJEUNE dit BRIARD ca 1656-1714/
33 - Marie "the middle" THIBODEAU ca 1663-1714/
34 - Martin BENOIT ca 1643
35 - Marie CHAUSSEGROS ca 1654
36 - André LeBLANC ca 1659-1743
37 - Marie Jeanne DUGAS ca 1667-1734
38 - Claude BOUDROT ca 1663-1740
39 - Catherine MEUNIER +1725/1735
Generation 7
64 - Pierre LeJEUNE dit BRIARD ca 1625
65 - (Unknown) DOUCET +
66 - Pierre THIBODEAU ca 1631-1704
67 - Jeanne THÉRIOT ca 1643-1726
72 - Daniel LeBLANC 1626-1695/1698
73 - Françoise GAUDET 1623-1698/1700
74 - Abraham DUGAS ca 1616-1693/1700
75 - Marguerite DOUCET ca 1625-1707
76 - Michel BOUDROT ca 1600-1688/1693
77 - Michelle AUCOIN ca 1621-1706
78 - Jean MEUNIER 1651
79 - Marguerite HOUSSEAU
Generation 8
130 - Germain DOUCET, sieur de La Verdure
131 - ? ?
132 - Mathurin THIBODEAU 1605
133 - Marie DEBEAU 1609
134 - Jean THÉRIOT ca 1601-/1686
135 - Perrine REAU 1611
146 - Jean GAUDET 1575-1671
147 - ? ?
148 - Abraham DUGAS 1590
149 - Marguerite CARSONNE 1594
150 => 130
151 => 131
154 - Martin AUCOIN
155 - Barbe MINGUET
156 - Mathurin MEUNIER
157 - Francoise FAFORD
158 - Nicholas HOUSSEAU
159 - Marguerite BOLDOC
This was in a Nova Scotia archive search.
Have you researched any further on this line?
Again Thanks so much.. this was a great discovery for me.
And I learned a little detective work in the process.
Oh -- also, the marriage record of Arthur Joseph Young (widower, age 65) to Martha Jane Gallant (widow, also 65) in 1921 identifies hios parents as Frederick Young and Catherine Misener.

I don't know who Arthur's first wife was, tho.

The death registration of Benjamin Young, 12 September 1929, identifies his parents as Frederick Young and Catherine Misener. The informant is his (2nd) wife.

Benjamin's DoB is given there as 21 March 1846, so he is of the right age to be in that same family. The four sons you mentioned (Archibald, Rufus, Arthur and Edward) appear with Frederick on the 1871 census. On the 1861 census, Frederick is married, with a wife aged 30-39 (should be 40-49, I think), and single people (presumably his children, mostly) aged 20-29 (M), 15-19 (1M, 1F), 10-14 (2M), and 5-9 (2M). Four of those match the four sons from the 1871. Benjamin would be the other male 10-14 (should be 15-20).

That Benjamin's parents were Frederick LeJeune and Catherine Misener is corroborated by his (1st) marriage (24 November 1870) at St. Mary's (RC) in Halifax. (He married my GG Aunt Elizabeth -- who was also, if all my notes are correct, his 1st cousin 1ce removed -- tho there was no dispensation recorded!)
No I am sorry I do not know. It may be St. Joseph's or St. Patricks in Halifax. I plan on contacting the catholic churches in that area soon. I am fairly new at this research. I do know that my grandfather was baptised in St. Patrick's in Halifax. Archibald and Isabel lived in Port Hood Inverness county in Cape Breton early in there marriage. They may have been married there, but from what I understand, there where two major fires where these records where kept and many records are destroyed. So I may never find there marriage record. You did not answer my question as to how you are related to this family and or your interest in them?
Please answer my question.
thanks for answering my post. I will tell you what I can on Archibald W. Young born around 1852. He is my great-great grandfather. He lived in the Halifax area. I found several census's with his family. I do know his father was Frederick Young he was born around 1800. Frederick had at least 4 son's there names where Archibald, Rufus, Arthur and Edward. Archibald, Rufus and Edward where all killed in the famous Halifax explosion. Archibalds wife's name was Isabel I believe her maiden name was Cameron. One of there children's name is Olga Joan Young this is my great grandmother. A lot of family trees do indicate Catherine Misener as the wife of frederick but I do not have proof of this yet and am looking for proof. If I can fill you in on anything else please feel free to ask. Please tell me how you are related to this family. I would love to make a connection with you. Thanks

Their children were Joycelyn Garrison (1921), Mary T. (1923), Gordon F. (6-14-1925), Una Bertile (Dec. 1927), and Marie E.Garrison(1929). Have found much history on Taliece's family but none on Angelle's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For everyone - - -
Do you have any clues where the name Lejeune or Jeune originated? Are their roots in the Liege area or did
they originate in northern France ?

I would be interested in any comments or suggestions about books that may have some clues. Thanks, Joan Shipley

Hello Gordon Lejeune,
I am sorry to say that I have not found an Adam Lejeune
or a Francois A. Lejeune in my Lejeune records. Nor have
I located anyone from Verviers, Belgium (Province de Luxembourg). All of the Lejeune names I have located resided in the villages from Bastogne south to Arlon. Of course it is possible that the families migrated. Let me know what you think. Best wishes, Joan Shipley
Hello Daniel L. Bridgeman,
We may be connected. I have 3 Nicolas Lejeune names on
the family tree. One Nicolas Lejeune was born 1833 in
Warnach, Belgium (Prov. de Luxembourg). However I do not
know where he married or died, and I am wondering if he moved out of the Warnach area.
Do you have additional information on your Nicolas Lejeune?
Write soon - - - Joan Shipley

What part of Ohio? My ggg granfather, Stephen Le Jeune was married to Mary Magdalene Canavel in Paris, France. They came to America in 1854. Their first child was born on a boat as it docked at New Orleans, LA, on Nov. 26, 1854. The baby was Frank Stephen. Their other children were: Lena, Julia, and William. Julia was my gg grandmother. She was born in Tiffin, Seneca Co., Ohio on Feb 5, 1857. Stephen Le Jeune enlisted in the Ohio Vet Foot Volunteers. Co. A. 23rd Regiment, in 1863. He was discharged April 1865, by reasons of gunshot wound. While in the army, his wife Mary, died of paralysis, at the age of 27. Conflicting dates and burial info not sure which is correct. March 10, 1864 - buried in Lowell, OH (Adams Twsp) or May 10, 1862 Crockett Cemetery near Tiffin, OH. Stephen later married Eliza Pierce on March 15, 1866. After that, I just don't know where he went. Not sure if he stayed in OH or if he traveled into IN where his children seem to have gone. The youngest son William, is said to have been adopted out to a family by the name of Wrigley. Nothing else is known. Not sure if he was adopted out because Mary died while Stephen was gone with the Oh. Vet. Foot Volunteers or what! Not sure if you are looking for the same Le Jeunes in Oh or not but I am courious if Stephen had brothers who came to America too!

I am sorry that I have been busy and unable to participate in discussion --- but according to Acadian genealogy experts your Edmee and Catherine Lejeune are not sisters to Pierre. Their mother has been proven from mtDNA analysis to be European not Miqmac. You should consult the work of Mr. Stephen A. White and join the 21st century on this question

I am sorry; but Pierre LeJeune was married to a daughter of Germain Doucet --- and not to a Micmac squaw. You only wish to say you are Micmac or metis by saying he married Micmac. Get over it --- you have not proven what you say --- and you never will. If you wish to reply to this; give the documentary EVIDENCE FOR WHAT YOU SAY.

Hello, BigC1029....

Thank you for your entry. I have always (over a number of years) thanked the authors of those who said that they could provide proof of the Micmac connection to Pierre Lejeune but no one ever provided any proof.

Someone recently said that the others of us are trying to spread this [false] theory but that simply is not true. There are (over the years) a number of us who would just like some valid information of whoever he married (or had children with).

Your statement that Pierre Lejeune was married to "a daughter of Germain Doucet" was something new to me. This is my first hearing of this and, if it is not too much to ask of you, could you please provide me with some more information about that connection. I would be very grateful to have it.

With thanks and kind regards,

Robert Demler

Many thanks, Donna...the article was very interesting, especially the 17th century French, as I am presently studying French (with very slow progress!) as I am a US Treasury Advisor in Algeria.

I certainly would appreciate it if you could explain to me the Pierre Lejeune connection and the individuals mentioned in the article "Lejeune and the Hunters" as it was (for me) a little out of context and I haven't worked on this line in a number of years as I have been overseas since 2000.

Many thanks in advance for the information and, again, many thanks for the article. I am always happy to read something other than banking and finance!

Kind regards,

Robert Demler

Working on two branches of the Lejeune family.

Maria Elizabeth LeJeune came into the country with her two daughters Mary P. and Catherine Louisa in 1877. Maria and Mary (who marries Joseph Robbins) are buried in Prospect cemetery in Tarentum, Pa. Catherine married a John Lavine and died a few years after in Johnstown, Pa. (1892)

They were cousins to another line who came to the Carrick area with an extensive family and I have a deep chart on this branch. Nicholas is a common name in this branch.
Bill wb-wm@comcast.net

Thanks Robert for your last post to BigC1029. I knew he had misinterpreted my request to Donna, and decided he wasn't interested in the same information I was looking for. I wonderful how he would feel if someone told him his ancestral line did not exist. The Pierre LeJeune I'm seeking more info on is the father of: Edmee abt.(1623), Pierre abt.(1625), and Chaterine abt.(1633). The info of Pierre marrying the daughter of Germain Doucet is still under question.
Best regards, Margie LeJeune

Sheila, who might this Michel and Marguerite be? Can you provide last names? BTW, we have no definitive proof that Pierre Lejeune dit Briard (husband of ---------- Doucet) was any relation to biological sisters Catherine Lejeune and Edmée Lejeune. I am an mtDNA descendant of Edmée and belong to the U6a haplogroup.

Regards,
Michele
michele.doucette@nf.sympatico.ca
