Frank P. Lemmon, 96, of Mount Pleasant, East Huntingdon Township, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, at his home and surrounded by his family.

Born Nov. 25, 1912, in East Huntingdon Township, he was the son of Frank Andrew and Callie Amelda Porch Lemmon.

Frank was a life member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church; a member the B.P.O.Elks of Mount Pleasant, where he was honored as the 2006 Elk of the Year; and an honorary life member of the East Huntingdon Township Volunteer Fire Department.

He worked as a farmer, a juvenile probation officer, a tax collector, aide at the Torrence State Hospital, a Pennsylvania highway inspector, rural mail carrier and even taught agriculture at East Huntingdon High School for a semester.

He was also active serving Meals on Wheels.

He was the secretary/treasurer of the Middle Church Cemetery for 40 years and was instrumental in establishing the Middle Church Cemetery Mausoleum.

Surviving are his children, Lois Ridley and husband, Bob, of State College, Frank T. Lemmon and wife, Rose, of Emlenton, and Nancy Diener and husband, Richard, of Brookville.

Seven grandchildren also survive including Daniel and Robert Ridley, Sherri Shuster, Amy Tower and husband, Wesley, Elizabeth Search and husband, Philip, Heather Diener and Sarah Diener and fiancé', Joseph Murdy.

Survivors also include six great-grandchildren, Zachery Lemmon, Kaitlyn and Seth Search, Edmund Shuster, Joseph Helferidge and Emma Ridley; and two sisters-in-law, Katheryn Lemmon of Scottdale and Jane Tweed of Indiana.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lemmon was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Tweed Lemmon; two brothers, Donald and Paul Lemmon; a sister, Leona Pritts, a brother-in-law, William Pritts; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Lemmon

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Eugene G. Saloom Funeral Service, Richard Rega, funeral director, at 730 W. Main Street, Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, with pastor Paul Rankin officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Middle Church Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Reunion Presbyterian Church or Medi Home Hospice.
