James + Eliza Brown from Scotland Edinburgh.
children
John Magnus,James,Joseph Campbell,Ann.
William Brown Lennie arrived from Scotland as did Joseph C. Lennie I am unable to make any connection as yet but Joseph C. Lennie has good credentials to be related to or part of the family James and Eliza opticians/Photography but unlikely to be the same as Joseph Campbell the son of the Edinburgh Photographic family.

LENNIE, John m GARSON, Isobel - ORKNEY, SCOTLAND

LENNIE, John m GARSON, Isobel. These are an important connection for me in researching several surnames in Orkney, such as SHEARER and MILLER. I have no confirmed dates but I believe probably mid to late 1800's would be close.

Help much appreciated.

Thanks,

James.

Looking for a John Lennie (Lunie or Linnie) who was named as the father of my 5x Great-Grandfather, John Gordon, born 1868 at Bridge of Loppie, Laurencekirk, son of Elizabeth.

In a document dated 11 April 1870, naming him as John's father, he is listed as a blacksmith at Boghall, Arbuthnott.
Hi Robert ---

I've just recently been in touch with Angus. My great grandfather was/is Dolphus Lenny, brother of Daniel. Our family is from the Duffield area in Alberta, although I live in Toronto.

The farm in Duffield is where Dolphus and Daniel's parents John Lenny and Lucie Gladu raised their family and are presently buried, although the farm is no longer in the hands of the family. My grandmother, Myrtle Lenny, daughter of Dolphus, passed away last August, however I still have two aunts living, as well as my grand auntie Helen (married a son of Dolphus named Alex/Alec). Her children go by Lenny and are still living in and around Edmonton.

Their other son Morris took that land over. Don't know what happen to that family. Their daughter Mary lived in Alama Center WI. She marry there and is bury there too. Their son Michael lived in near his brother Patick but later moved his family to Hixton WI 1855. His brother John came too. Both had land their. John later moved to Alama Center WI. Their Helen or known as Ellen marry and lived in that area too. In a paper I found it said that she came to the US with her parents John and Mary.
My Lennies were originally from the Stirlingshire area of Scotland, and was spelled Leny or Lenny. They are from an area where there is a Pass of Leny, River Leny, Falls of Leny and a cemetary at Little Leny where some of the old chiefs of the Buchanan clan are buried. There is a family where I live whose family originall came from France, and changed the spelling to Lennie.
