June Leopold Manchester
June Leopold Manchester age 77, of Dewittville, N.Y. and North Ft. Myers, Fla. and formerly of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 as a result of an automobile accident near Jamestown, New York. June was born in Fairview Township on June 10, 1931 a daughter of the late Ralph F. and Mary Fiesler Leopold.
She was a 1948 graduate of Fairview High School and a 1951 graduate of Edinboro State Teachers' College, where she received her teaching degree. Mrs. Manchester was a 1st grade teacher with the Fairview School District for 30 years retiring in 1986. June and her husband were active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers, Florida and attended Hurlbut Methodist Church of Chautauqua, New York. They loved to bowl, golf, and travel. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening, and welcomed everyone into her home with smiles and hugs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Sue Ellen Hunt in 2001, a brother Edward Leopold, and three sisters-in-law: Isabelle Manchester World, Eleanor Manchester Winnie, and Betty Lou Manchester.
She is survived by her loving husband Ronald “Toby” Manchester of 58 years;
her son, Sid Manchester and his wife Marty of Edinboro;
her son-in-law Jeffrey Hunt of Westfield, New York;
her sister Rosie Tuten and her husband Bryan of Millcreek; three brothers: Donald Leopold and his wife Sonya of Girard; Ronald Leopold of Lake City; and William Leopold and his wife Dottie of Belle Center, Ohio;
her sister-in-law Elaine Leopold Zula;
two sisters-in-law: Nancy Cederlof and her husband Jerry, and Wilma Hermansen and her husband Floyd, all of Fairview; four grandchildren: Noelle Christina Hunt, Brianne Leigh Hunt both of Richmond, Va.; Bethany Lynn Irwin and her husband Nathan Ray of Sackets Harbor, N.Y.; and Brooke Sydney Irwin and her husband Ryan Robert of Edinboro; two great-grandsons: Brenden Taylor Manchester and Parker Colden Irwin; several nieces and nephews. Family will welcome friends at Burton Funeral Home 525 Main St East in Girard on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. A celebration memorial service will be held at the Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4264 Avonia Road on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Charles Cammarata officiating. A committal service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Westfield, N.Y.
