His father if I have it correct was Stephen a son of Theordore??? I will dig out more of my family tree information. My fathers mother's name was Mary. The kids were Hattai; Agnes; Mary; Steven; Louis; and my father Theordore. My fathers grandparents or maybe it was great grandparents came from Poland.

I am trying to trace back my family on my mothers side

My grandparents Maria Kowalszyn born June 1920 and Walter Lepak born June 1925 came to England after WW2 and settled here.

Unfortunately i know very little about them, other than that their villages in Ukraine/Poland were invaded during the war and that they were eventually sent to a concentration camp before being liberated after the war.

I believe my grandfathers brother died during the war but unfortunately i dont know his name.

If anyone thinks that they might be related or recognises these people in any way, i would love to hear from you

Lisa

to Barb Kessler,

I've seen your many messages and have come to believe that my gr-grandfather Carl Lepak may be a brother to your gr-granfather Teddor. Carl was born in Poland ~1860, immigrated to US, married Frances Adamski and settled in Cassel, Marathon Co., WI.

According to my parents, they had 9 children: Joseph(my grandfather), Anton, John, Edward, Thomas, Clara, Marcella, Mary, and Julia. Joseph married Cecelia Skrzypchak, daughter of Cecelia Dahlke and Martin Skrzypchak. My parents had no info about Carl's parents except that they didn't think they ever came to this country.

The 1930 Census for Cassel doesn't show a Teddor or Theodore Lepak, but Stanley's family is there. My Dad says he and Stanley were 2nd cousins. That would fit with Carl and Teddor being brothers. Haven't had a chance to ask my dad if he knew any great aunts or uncles.

Barb Lepak

Mike

Thanks so much for the reply - The parent of my ancestor were Simon and Caroline Lepak - they were from the same area of Poland as your ancestor although I have not been able to prove the village.

Teddor and Kate later moved to Marathon County. I have not been able to track the other siblings of Teddor - Frank, Johanna, Antonia and Pauline. I know they all came to America with their mother, Caroline. Simon died in Poland.

I had hoped your Franz (Frank) and mine were the same person - but it doesn't look like it.

I have quite a bit on my family also - now if your Frank's parents were Simon and Caroline - I would be extremely excited.

Barb

Barbara,
The Franz Lepak that you mention is my great-grandfather. Josephine was his wife and they arrived at the Port of New York on 11 June 1872, settling in Milwaukee until the Fall of 1877 when they relocated to a farm in Maple Grove Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin. They came to this country from Brusy, Poland after being married in January of 1872. The Theodor and Kate that you mention are of another family. Frank and Josephine had a large family and I have much information. Please tell me a little about your family.

Thanks! Mike

I have recently learned that I may have a connection to Franz (Frank) Lepak who arrived in American June 11, 1872. He was traveling with Josephine Lepak, I do not know if this was a wife or sister.

Frank lived in Milwaukee with Theodore and his wife Kate in 1879. Josephine is not in the household.

I believe Frank moved to Maple Grove, Shawano, Wisconsin.

I would appreciate any information any one has on this family.

Hi, Bob--
I wish I could help you more, but-I have very limited information. You, probably -have more then me----I don't know our grandfathers' parents.
I know that my grandfather,William and my grandmother, Barbara Spin were both born in the county of Garlice---the State-Krakow and the City-Pankna. My grandfather was born April 24-1894. Maybe, if you don't have this information, it can be of help to you in someway. It's nice to know I have found a cousin :>)
Marycoreen
Sorry about that misunderstanding. I was just a bit confused with the name at the top. My dad is Alex. He has lots of brothers and sisters, like your Lepak side. Andrew, Steve, Antoinette, Anna and Mary are also still with us. I have been having a great time doing this stuff, now I have to restart the entering of info into the comp program again. Almost a case of overload but that is okay with me. Funny the road blocks I have run into. Perhaps you can clear some up. To start with : Who were our grandfathers' parents, from where, to where, etc. I have little info on this stuff. Joe (Bill's bro) was the only one of 4 siblings born in the US. Any info you know would be most appreciated. Email me if ya have time. Too much for me to write here. And thanks for the reply !
Bob

Hi Barbara. Probably never expected such a late reply, if you are still there. I am from Auburn, NY originally. Have been researching family history. Lots of stuff. Was your father John ? Mother Helen ? I have come across a couple of Lepaks in Elmira connection. I have John's obit right here. Paternal grandparents Bill Lepak and Barabara Spin ? They lived on Arlington Ave. I remember them. He was born 1894 and passed in 1969. Well, BILL and my Granfather JOSEPH were brothers. Joe lived on Kensington Ave, were my dad grew up. Both Bill and Joe had big families. Joe and Bill did not get along too well. This all seems rather strange doesn't it. But we seem to be related in a distant way. Have ya checked the 1930 census for William and Barbara lepak in Cayuga County ? They are in it, including Anna, John and Julia at the time. On Wright Avenue. What a surprise this must be after all this time for someone to answer. Cheers !

Hi Fawn, I have little information on my mother's parents Julia Ann Lepak and Leon Lepak. They mostly lived in PA. I'm not even sure if they were born in the USA or in Poland, the death records and marriage records that I have for them have conflicting information. My grandmother Julia Lepak's maiden name was Monicki. She passed away on July 18, 1977. If you have any information on this line of the Lepak family I would greatly appreciate it. My grandparents had 10 children of which coincidentally one of their children's name is Helen.

I saw your message on the web through Ancestry.com

I have just started researching my Lepak line.

My mother was Lorraine Lepak, her father was Stanley
(Stanislaus) Lepak. From his death certificate, I know
he was born in Milwaukee, WI - date unknown? It is estimated
to be approxiamtely 1887.

His father, Theodore, must have relocated to Marathon County, WI
Stanley was raised in Cassel Township, Marathon County. I
do not know anything about his siblings, family, nothing. The only
other thing I have is that Theodore told Stanley that he had been
a farm laborer in Poland before coming to America. He said he had
been no more than a slave.

If would be very interested in finding out anything I can
about the Lepak family in Milwaukee.

Barbara A.

My great-grandmother was Paraska Lepak, and she lived her entire life in the Gorlice area of Austria-Hungary, which is now a part of Poland. This general area is what is called Ruthenia, or the Lemko region, and is north of the Carpathian Mtns. These people are part of an ever-changing region, as far as regional, political, and cultural identity, but can be associated with the Ukraine as well.

My great-grandmother married Michael Fridrich, whom I am researching, with great difficulty now.

There are several Lepak relatives in the coal-mining region of Pennsylvania; if you think these families might be related to you, I would be happy to contact the ones I know of. I personally have very little info other than this; I have only recently become obsessed with this fascinating new hobby of genealogy. Good Luck!
