Dear Barbara, If you are still out there; My name is Tom Lesh, and I also would appreciate the information you have on Balthasar Loesch. I have no evidence, but the family story says our direct descendent died on the way over to America with his family and that he was from near Worms (Germany). I can only trace my family back to around 1830 when we married into the Schaefer/Huston family from PA. That book says much of our family records are in either Stroudsburg or East Stroudsburg PA. I am currently serving in Korea as an Army Chaplain. Thank you.

I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

I'm currently in the military and living in Germany. Yesterday, I went and visited Gernsheim, where Balthaser LOESH / LESH is said to have come from.

The source that I have on this is the material written by William LESH in 1914. Has anyone found documentation that he actually came from Gernshiem?

NAOMI LESH....wife of Francis "Frank" Alexander Greer

Hi, I'm looking for information on a woman named Naomi LESH.
She was the wife of Francis "Frank" Alexander Greer. They had one child that I know of. Her name was Wanda Caroline Greer. Wanda was born in 1916 in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho and they were living there in 1919 when one of Francis's brother's passed away.

I think that Naomi may have been born June 08, 1888 and died January 28, 1989 in Redding CA. Or at least the Soc. Sec. Death records indicate that there was a woman named Naomi Greer who was born and died on those dates. Her husband, Frank Greer, was born September 02, 1886, in Hedgewood, Sand Creek twp., Norton Co., Kansas. He died on November 23, 1963, in Sacramento, CA.

Does anyone here on the Lesh family board have any information on this girl who was born as Naomi Lesh? Thanks.

I have Hannah and Anna and John, but did not have Hannah married to John - but I just may not have gotten that far yet. I haven't worked the line in a while. In my info John and Anna have a daughter, Elizabeth, born Oct 2 1830. Do you have this info?
Debi

According to California Death Records Naomi Greer's full name was NAOMI CAROLINE GREER. She was born on 8 Jun 1888 and she died on 28 Jan 1989. She was born in KANSAS and she died in Redding, SHASTA County, CA. Her mother's maiden name was GLEASON and her father's surname was LESH. So it seems clear that this was indeed the same Naomi Lesh who was married to Francis "Frank" Alexander Greer. Does the fact that her mother's maiden name was Gleason help at all? Or the fact that she was born in Kansas? Thanks.

I don't have much info. John Lesh was born in 1783. He was the son of Anna Marie Moyer (1763-1851) and Jacob Loesch (1756-1820). I had no information about his first wife, except that she and a child died. He and his second wife, Ann Franz, had five children: John H Lesh; Christian Lesh; Mary Lesh Miller; Elizabeth Lesh; and Isaac Lesh, who died young and unmarried.

John's siblings: (1) Anna Lesh (1784-) was married first to Henry Deardorff (ca 1856-), then to Stephen Miller. (2) Jacob Lesh was born on 10 August 1786 in Berks County, PA, and died on 25 August 1863 in Preble Co, OH. In the 1790s, he moved with his parents to Bedford County, VA, then, in 1808, to Lanier Township, in Preble County, OH. He and his wife, Mary Lantis (or Landis), had nine children, who are discussed under the eighth generation. (3) Elizabeth Lesh was born on 26 October 1788 in Preble County, OH, where she died on 29 April 1847. She married Jacob Deardorff (or Dierdorff). Elizabeth died on 29 April 1847 in Lanier Township. (4) Henry Lesh (1791-) and his wife, Susie, had four children: Silas Lesh, Lewis Lesh, Aaron Lesh, and Paul Lesh. (5) George Lesh was born in 1793 and died in 1819. (6) Christina Lesh (1797-1825) married a Mr Miller.

Source for some or most of this information: William W Lesh, A Collection of over Six Hundred Names, Descendants of Balthaser and Susanna Phillipina Loesch, Palatines from Gernsheim (Newport, PA: William W Lesh, 1914); Margaret Leiby Glanding Rupp, Meet the Lesh Family (York, PA, 1956).

Duane's line is from Emanuel & Eve to their daughter, Minnie who married Peter Dager to their son, Floyd who is Duane's father. We wonder where your line comes in. Duane has a cousin, Kay, who was wondering about the Leshes a few years back when I was working up the Dager Family History. Are you Kay? If you care to write by post office, the Box # is Box 164 and you know the town. We still live in the same place. Rosemary

Looking for info on Henry Lesch, died Aug. 1807 in Manheim Twp., York Co. PA. I have an abstract of his will, names wife Catherina and (assuming his children) Zacharias, Henry, Elizabeth-mar. to George Leininger, and Catherina-mar. to Henry Sprinkle (Sprenkel).

Believe this family may have come to York Co. from Montgomery Co. PA. Found baptismal records at Trappe church for Zacharias (b. 1767) and Catherina (b. 1774). Parents names given as Heinrich Lesch and Catherina. Also found marriage record for Jan. 1766 in same church for Heinrich, son of Martin and for Cathernia Bliczli, dau. of Martin (believe this surname may be Blickle or Bleckle).

Baptismal record for January 1783 found at Sherman's (St. David's) Union church in Manheim Twp., York Co. PA for Johan Henry, son of Henry and Catherina Lesh.

Have found tax records 1795 and 1801 and also census 1790; this is the only Lesch family in Manheim Twp., York Co. in that time frame.

Trying to determine if this family in York Co. is the same family from Mongtomery Co. Also need to determine if son Johan Henry Lesch is the same Henry Lesch (later spelled Lesh), married to Mary [Unknown], who moved to Stark County, Ohio around 1814 and raised his family there.

Please contact me at jiffydld@aol.com or post a message here to the boards.
Re: William Lesh - PA & Civil War

Thank you for responding. My research focus is the 87th Pennsylvania Infantry and not the Lesh family, but I am always happy to help. Do you know what William's middle name was? (It has to be Henry.) Does any of his Civil War correspondence exist?
