They were the parents of my mother's mom (and many brothers), Blanche Florette Letarte. They lived in Leominster, Massachusetts and I have some pictures of them. Blanche married Aquila Poirier.
My Grandmother (Memere), Blanche (nee LeTarte) Poirier was the daughter of John LeTarte and his wife, Parmelia (aka Pamela) nee Bourgois and John LeTarte. She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts.
Memere married Pepere, Aquila Poirier in Leominster. He was born in Canada. I have lots of Poirier info (they were definitely a prolific group).

I would love to exchange information with you as well as pictures. My Memere was born on Mechanic Street in Leominster, Massachusetts as were my mother, Julianna (nee Poirier) Kaselitz and two of her brothers, Roland and Roger. In 1927 or 1929 my Memere, Pepere and their 3 children moved to Detroit, Michigan. There were two more daughters born and three more brothers born...daughters: Elsie, and Joanne. Sons were: Raymond, Richard, Robert.

I'm going to try to attach the picture of the house taken in about 1858 (it's old and faded but you can see) ... the little girl on the right is my Memere and the boy on the extreme left is one of her brothers. The girls were her cousins.

I do not know if any of this info will be of any help to you. I am new at this "Family Tree" stuff and hope you will bear with me!!
My great Grandmother was Malvina Letarte from Canada. Year of birth 1864 ? She married Adelard Gilbert, also from Canada year of birth 1862? not 100% sure of the birth years. They moved to Westbrooke Maine at some point because that is where my grandfather, Joseph Gilbert was born, 1888-1889. Then my grandfather lived in Manchester NH at some point. That is where he met and married my grandmother Catherine Reynolds Gilbert, and they had my father Joseph Frances Gilbert in 1914, and Henry Thomas Gilbert in 1915. I am getting my info from my grandparents marriage license from New Hampshire. All of my family has pased away and I do not have a lot of people left to ask. I hope that this maybe of some help to you, or maybe you have seen some of the names I have mentioned.
Thank you so much for your time.
Cathie

Nicolas Tart Nicholas Letartre

My ancestor Nicholas Tart lived in Essex, New York in 1850. He and his wife Margarett were born in Canada. I'm trying to determine whether he is French-Canadian and whether his birth name was actually Nicolas Letartre. I found a marriage of Nicolas Letartre and Marguerite Gareau in 1817 in St-Luc, St-Jean, Quebec, but have not yet searched the parish registers to match the children. Does anyone know about the origins of this family?

Joseph Gareau

Hi David, since my Joseph Gareau is my "brick wall" I cannot say that he is the same as your Joseph. I can only keep searching with other people until I find the one married to Marie Monet dit Boismenu about 1840 ish. I have their middle years, St Jerome, and their ending years in Ogdensburg, NY, but have not been able to find their beginnings. That is why when I see a Gareau family I always ask about their family line. I have had so much wonderful help from other people and still cannot connect. I live in NY and it is hard for me to know just where to look for these people. Have tried Jean Gareau and he cannot seem to find my Joseph. I do know that his name was Joseph Louis and he was born somewhere in Quebec about 1823/25. I would appreciate it if you could check to see if you have any of the above names. They also had 7 children, Adellphine, J-B Arsenne, Benjamin, Louis, Noe, Josephine and Auxilda. Thank you, Kristin
