I've seen several forum posts indicating that Yelverton Thaxton's daughter Irene married Robert Letson in S.C. in 1820 and died in 1824. Does anyone have any documentation of this? It seems inconsistent with known information about Yelverton's family. Yelverton came from Halifax Co., Va, to Georgia, and is not known to have ever been in South Carolina. Irene Thaxton married Green Martin in Monroe (later Butts Coo., Georgia, in 1824. Martin continued to live near and have dealings with Yelverton until his eventual divorce from Irene. Irena Martin received payment from Yelverton Thaxton's estate in the 1860s. I'm wondering if an incorrect assumption about a Letson-Thaxton connection was made early on, and needs to be corrected. But if anyone has some documentation otherwise, I'd be very interested in seeing it.
