WILTON - Ellen C. Lett, 68, of Wilton, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Davenport. Services will be at Bentley Funeral Homes in Wilton. The Rev. David Lawson will officiate. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton. Pallbearers will be Gene and Barbara Jean Kaufman, Brian and Cindy Smith, Toby Boettcher, and Leon Steinhagen. Organist will be Deb Mohr and vocalist will be Henry Bentley. Visitation will be at the Bentley Funeral Homes in Wilton. Memorials may go to the American Cancer Society and to the Beacon of Hope Hospice in Davenport. Mrs. Lett was born on Sept. 6, 1931, to Thomas and Ella Peterson Saunders in Clinton County. She married Raymond Zeke Lee in Calamus. He preceded her in death. She later married Darold Lett on Dec. 18, 1976, in Durant. She retired from CDS in Wilton. During her long fight with cancer she kept herself busy making hand stitched and hand quilted quilts. It was a joy for her to take the quilts to the fairs in West Liberty and Davenport. She received best of show for three of her quilts and several red and blue ribbons at the fairs. She also loved her dogs. She raised schnauzers for many years. Survivors include her husband, Darold Lett of Wilton; a son, Lynn Lee of Walcott; a stepdaughter, Donna Brockmeyer of Allegan, Mich.; two stepsons, Richard and his wife, Sherry, Lett of Alverado, Texas and DeWayne Lett and his wife, Melody, of Wilton; five sisters, Lorraine Rumsower of Arizona, Mardelle Harvey of California, Lois Ann Boetcher and her husband, Don, of Lowden, Sarah Stafford and her husband, DeWayne, of Blackwall, Okla., Bernice Fullerton and her husband, Dale, of Rockford; two grandsons, Scott Wiebel, Dustin Lett; seven granddaughters, Tiffany Olswold, Andrea Lee, Tosha Lett, Beth Lett, Jenny Lett, Ashley Lett, Ashley Lett, Katie Lett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ella Saunders Smith and her brother, Eugene Saunders.

WILTON, Iowa - Wilbert F. Lett, 84, Wilton, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

Services are at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. The Rev. Wayne Fredericksen is officiating. Musical selections are provided by organist James Batchelor. Pallbearers are Tom Moeller, Jim Moeller, Dale Hein, Steve Greene, Bob Thede, and Mark Thede. Honorary Pallbearers are Shane Greene, Staci Greene, and Corby Greene. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton, where American Legion Post No. 584 will conduct military honors.

Mr. Lett was born on July 14, 1918 in Bennett, the son of Harry and Anna Reinking Lett. He married Violet I. Sidler on June 2, 1946 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1995. He later married Catherine Sessler on May 20, 1998, in Wilton.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving U.S. Army from 1942-1945 in the Philippines, Okinawa and Leyte.

He farmed in Cedar County retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton American Legion Post No. 584 and the Muscatine Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine of Wilton; one daughter, Gloria Greene of Wilton; two sons, Roger and his wife Jeanie Lett, Dennis Lett, both of Wilton; one stepdaughter, Becky Berry of Michigan; one stepson, David and wife Lou Ellen Riggs of Pennsylvania; one sister, Arlene 'Mrs. Lloyd' Hein of Tipton two brothers, Donald and his wife Joyce Lett of Wapello and Edwin and his wife Betty Lett of Tipton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Norma; and one brother, Ellwood.

WILTON, Iowa -- Darold Clarence Lett, 74, of Wilton died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Wilton are Center in Wilton.

Pallbearers are members of the Wilton American Legion. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by Wilton American Legion Post No. 584.

Memorials may be made to the Genesis Center for Stroke Prevention and Recovery and to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Lett was born on June 29, 1927, in Cedar County, the son of Clarence and Bertha Goedelmann Lett. He married Dorothy Marine in 1948. He later married Ellen C. Saunders on Dec. 18, 1976, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1999.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955.

He retired in 1987 from Caterpillar in Mount Joy after 20 years. He previously was employed by Thatcher Glass Co. in Muscatine for 14 years.

He had attended Grace United Church of Christ in Wilton and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant. He was a member of the Wilton American Legion Post No. 584 and a former member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge No. 388.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Brockmeyer of Allegan, Mich.; two sons, Richard Lett and his wife, Sherrie, of Muscatine and Dewayne Lett and his wife, Melody, of Wilton; a stepson, Lynn Lee of DeWitt.; five granddaughters, Jennifer Lett, Ashley Lett, Catherine Lett, Beth Lett and Tasha Lett; two grandsons, Dustin Lett and Scott Wiebel; two stepgrandchildren, Andrea Lee and Tiffany Griswold; a sister, Helen Mittman of Anaheim, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
