Howard D. Letts, Jr.
CHILLICOTHE: Howard D. Letts, Jr., 84, of Chillicothe, Ohio left this life on Thursday, August 23, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 8, 1928 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to the late Howard D. and Mary I. Null Letts.
On June 21, 1954 he married the former Beverly E. Morris of Clarksburg, who survives.
Also surviving is his daughter, Susan (Ron) Newland; two grandchildren, Ashley (TJ) Lynch and Elizabeth (John) Gentil; a great-grandchild, Dylan Lynch and another one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis A. Letts; and a brother, Bill L. Letts.
Howard served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953.
Upon his return home, he served as a police officer for the city of Chillicothe and later joined the Chillicothe Fire Department as a firefighter, retiring in 1982. Howard was loved by all who knew him and was always able to put a smile on anyone's face.
Graveside services, conducted by the Chillicothe Fire Department, and the Ross County, Ohio Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 10:00am Tuesday in Browns Chapel (Deerfield Twp.) Cemetery.
Calling hours will not be observed.
