Thomas Leveque/Mary Smith - Quebec/Michigan

I'm looking for information on Thomas Leveque (1840 - 1925) and his wife, Mary Smith (1830-1919). They apparently lived in Quebec, coming to Spring Lake, Michigan in 1872. They moved to Muskegon around 1886.

The 1894 Michigan Census and 1900 US Census show Mary as the mother of 7 children, with only one surviving. The survivor was Mary Leveque Mason (she married Napoleon Mason around 1879).

Any information on the six other children would be most appreciated.

My maiden name is Christine Marie Leveque. My father is Gary Lee Leveque ( Identical twin of-Larry Leveque). My grandparents are Donald M and Freida Leveque. My grandpa Donald has passed on. He was born in Martinton, IL ( I think it's IL if not it would be Indianna) ...Janurary 10, 1928, died April 22, 2000. He was a farmer, he was owner/ operator of Leveque's Farm Service, in Martinton. My grand-parents ended up living in St. Anne, IL. He was the son of Charles and Pearl Leveque also I think of Martinton, IL then later to St. Anne ( Great-grandma spoke full french and English ). We aren't sure but my dad thought Charles was the son of a William Leveque who we think came to IL from Canada. I've tried to run some searches but I get nothing, no matches. I would be ever so greatful as would my 4 children would be, to know we have a family history. That we weren't just dropped here...lololol. Thank you all!! Email.....sparkie8669@yahoo.com.....I can be reached here.

My Great-great grandmother was a Leveque. Natalie (or Anathalie) was born 1843 in Cazaville, Quebec, Canada and married Ludger Fournier in 1865 in St Anicet, Quebec. I have no other information on her. What is funny though, is that my GGgrandmother down another line married a Brooks, who died when her kids were young. I think she remarried a William Cronk, but I don't have any proof of that. Her first name was Mary. Possible maiden name-Gray. She was born in New York and all her kids were born there. Do you recognize any of these names?
Thanks,
Cheryl

LeVeque from L'Isle Verte Ontario connected to Da(h)lmann

Searching for anyone who may know a Joseph D LeVeque who came to MI between 1860 and 1890, lumbered all over the UP in numerous counties (with his older sons later), fathered a second family - after his first Canadian Indian family died in smallpox outbreak except one son Charlie who later located him in MI - anywhere from Antrim Co to L'Anse, MI. Changed his name to American translation Bishop and had following children with Bertha Albertina Da(h)lmann: Edward Joseph B:1 Apr 1890, Elizabeth Mae B: 1892, Wilhelmina Albertina B: 1894, John B: 1895 dying young of faulty heart, and Mary B: 1897. Can anyone recognize this man? Apparently he continued to be known as LeVeque as my cousins remember being called that name. He was also known as "ol peasoup". He died and has a head stone in March 1914 Boyne City, MI. Been trying to locate this person for a long time. Trying to find if he naturalized, where he came into MI, etc. Thanks for any assist.
Dear Tom,

I think your message was for Lois, but I will respond, just in case, as the board notified me.

I have no Charles or Henry LeVeque in our family, but have LeVeque relations in WI.

So, who knows....

Clement Levesque & Mary Drennin LeVesque had many sons.

1. Joseph Leon Levesque b. 07 Jan 1874, born ??? Canada or USA.

2. Joseph Moise Mose Levesque b. 13 July 1875.

3. Napoleon Levesque b. about 1879.

I do not know where they settled, who they married or names of offspring if any, but...

LeVeque is how we spell our name now, but it has been,
Levesque
LeVake
LeVeque
LaVeque

I have never seen your variations, but it does not mean anything, other than possibly a poor speller.

Good luck,
Marilyn

Hi, I am also researching anyone with the last name Levecque for various reasons I see that your message is posted in 2000 so maybe you have more info than I have. All I have at this point is that my grandfather's name was John Levecque - he passed away before I was born. He and my grandmother had several children all raised in Eastern and Southwest Ontario. He would have been born around 1910-1920. I have found several other names such as Francis, Alice, Amelia, Edward, John, Bernard, William George, and Joseph - all Levecques buried in St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Cemetery in Renfrew Ontario - I am currently researching their birth/death dates etc... but have no information as of yet. Maybe you do? What year were you born - were you born in Canada? Please contact me at yipikiaa@hotmail.com as I may have more confidential info for you.
