I just found a new online bookstore that gives away FREE SEARCHABLE CD-ROM with the purchase of any family history book, they have over 20,000 titles to choose from, I just tought that I will pass it along to you.

I am a direct descendant of Joseph Levering and Alice Tunes. (correct spelling) She married Joseph Levering abt 1717 in Perkiomen, Montgomery Co. Pa. Died 24 Mar 1753 Roxborough, Philadelphia, Pa.

I have found this obituary of Cora May [Rittenhouse] Levering on page 7 of the Inquirer of 12 Jan 1910.

LEVERING--At Wildwood, New Jersey, on January 9, 1910, Cora, wife of Harry M. Levering, aged 41 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services, on Thursday at 2 P.M., at residence of her mother, Mrs. Katharine Walters, Delmar st., Roxborough. Interment private;

I show Harry's second wife as Josephine Bennett born 1883 in New Jersey, whom Harry married in 1912.

You may wish to check Find A Grave. One of the members has listed over 4000 entries for this cemetery from walking it and is adding photos regualrly. Many have photos. I do not think it is exhaustive, as the entries are from visible stones only, but it's a good place to start.

Hello,

I am overwhelmed by the amount of information on this family's message board. There are so many branches! I was unable however, to find the branch I am a descendent of.

My great grandmother was Fern Levering. She was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1900 or 1901. She has a sister named Fay and a half brother named James Roy.

Her father was Charles Douglass Levering. He was born in Monroe, Wisconsin in 1861 or 1862. His wife was Lottie Burnette. He had a brother named Lawrence (b. 1854) and a sister named Hattie (b. abt 1858) and probably other siblings.

Charles's father was Daniel Levering. He was born in Ohio in 1823. He was married to Oriann VanBuskirk.

His parents were Charles Levering and Mary Blair who were both originally of Pennsylvania.

Page 584.

Susan Levering, born 8 Nov 1884.
Mary Ellen Levering, born 28 Sep 1887.
Ruth Levering, born 26 May 1889.

I think they had a brother Frank, born 17 Jun 1908.

They were probably all born in Roxborough, Philadelphia, Pa., as their father was Oliver Franklin Levering of that area, but he died 25 Nov 1912 in Camden, New Jersey and is interred at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia. Their mother was Ruth HILLICK of Ireland.

Maybe this is your Mary Ellen? Where was yours from ?

He and May were together in the 1930 Census.

I have wondered why no one tried to close this gap between England and Holland earlier. I don't think J.C. put much trust in what Horatio Jones concluded. I am working on a lead, but it could be a bust! There seems to be several holes in the Levering History, and I hope it is not too late to find some answers!

Hello!!! Lia, Welcome to the family! I have longed for a "Netherlander" relative! The website that our other kind relative gave you, will be a real help. The first 20 or so pages of "the Levering Genealogy" does tell you the theory of John C., it's the best place to start. Would you be willing to converse and possibly translate a few things?

Alice L. Levering Harker published a Leverign Family Extension (to 1897 edition by Col. John Levering)
Publ. in 1971. It was a 9-year venture! It is 300 pages long!

Hello! Col. John Levering wrote a very extensive genealogy for the family. Here is a website that has the book online. There is also a search engine at the bottom of the page and you can enter his name to find the biography of him in the book.

there are no references in the extension to the last name Tunes - Teunis - Tennis. The only thing I can look up is the last number referred to in the large book - these transfer to the extension - if she has them, or if there is a different last name.

But I'm a descendent of Magdalena Levering [1696-1736]who married William Tennis, and I was just surfing thru the message boards. If you want more info on the origination of Rosier Levering check this site and e-mail the author Bill Cannon. He has on this site the entire 960 pages of The Levering Family History, by Col. My great grandfather was Samuel Joseph TENNIS 1844-1912 of Dauphin county, Pa. who served in the 127th Pa. regiment, co. C. My grandfather was Samuel Joseph TENNIS 1879-1966 who changed his middle name to Jacob about the time he married Cora EBERSOLE in 1910. Yes, I'm interested in any other TENNIS info you have.

Does the extension book show any more on descendents of Jacob LEVERING & Alice TUNES of page 103, #18? They had seven boys and one girl.

Joseph H. Levering had a sister Ruth B. Levering, b. 1921, and a brother Charles L. Levering, b. 1922.
Joseph's father Harry Milton Levering was married first to Cora May Rittenhouse and had 3 boys & 2 girls to her before she passed away in 1910.
All the ancestry of Joseph is in Col. John Levering's book which is online now.

Can anyone help me with descendency of this family of Harry Milton Levering who was born in 1869 in Manayunk?

Marian Rittenhouse Levering married Sherman Felmey on Oct 18, 1924 in North Wildwood, Cape May County NJ.

I am trying to find more info on Cora May Rittenhouse, I do know that she is the daughter of a Hiram Rittenhouse and Katherine Haas but that is where my info stops.

hello... i am lia levering, living in the netherlands, and there is a great possibility that we have the same ancesters!
I'm also trying to make a familytree but i'm still missing some information between 1800 till 1650.
For what i have found it must be Willem Levering, born 1650 in Emmerich, Germany, to be my now known forefather.
I even found that he, or some other Levering (but must be related), came to Holland with William the Conqueror from England. This is not yet verifiable because i lost that information.
