The New Orleans LEVERT family had its origins in Canada. I do not have any ties to that particualr family line, though it is an interesting and well-documented one. It would be good, actually to follow the New Orleans LeVert genealogy closest in residence to your family line; their wills, properties (both real and personal), business transactions, etc for more info on theses brothers once you get to that spot. BUt first you need to begin gathering everything you can abt not only your father (family, census, ss#, job history, etc) but also that of Dr. Levert. Their lines may run almost parallel, so to speak.
It is never a concidence.
Barbara Baxter

I hope you have the same address. I do not know anything. I'm replying because I was told by aunt that my father John C Levert was born in New Orleans and lived with and worked for a Dr.Levert. I do not know of any connection with this Dr. other than he had the last name. I am the great-great grandchild (or ) of one of Five (5) slave brothers. His name was Ed Levert (brothers: Monroe,Frank,Booker)
Maybe, this is only one of those 'coincidence'.

I have Levertys in my family tree, all from Bridgeport, CT. (Family lore says they were well-to-do as far as Bridgeport goes.)

My g-grandmother was Ann Elizabeth (Leverty) Kelly, 1878-1968. Her husband was John Kelly, 1881-1958.

Her parents were my g-greats Mary Dennehy, probably born in the 1850s, and James Leverty (or possibly O'Leverty).

Besides Ann, they had 12 other children: John Augustine, Philip, Archibald, James Philip, Ellen, Mary Cecilia, Mary Teresa, David Giles, Charles (my dad's named Charles, after his great-uncle), Irene, Veronica and Vincent DePaul. (whew)

Ann Elizabeth Leverty and John Kelly had Archibald, George and James. Archibald Kelly and Helene Byrnes had my dad, Charles.

Not sure when this line of the family came to the States from Ireland. This is all I know.

Well, I think I get closer everyday to Caude's Franch family. Evidently, they were a family of Doctors, as was the Verdot Family, who served the French royal house since about 1344, if I have my information straight.
Tracy Claude's nephew who moved to the ?Jersey Isles has proved even more difficult, though I knoe his family or descendants eventually moved to Australia.
Our son, assigned to the 3 Marine Airwing, has been deployed from Okinawa to where we (not even his wife, also 3MAW) do not know. It is a comfort knowing he carries on a proud family tradition of serving his country.
I am at PO Box 166, Earl, NC 28038
Have been in contact with some AL descendents.
Am interested in the Francis Levert descendent. What does he know of Francis' nephew, Dr. Mastin, receiving personal items of Claude's before Anne Lee Metcalfe Levert died?
How goes it with you?
Barbara

Looking for any information on Francois LEVERT and Margaretta or Marguerite VERDOT of possibly France. They were the parents of my French-American Ancestor, Claude 'Claudius' LeVert, spouse of Anne Lee METCALFE of VA. When Claude died his wife and adult children moved to the AL Territory. Surviving children of Claude and Ann LEVERT were: Francis John, Ann Elizabeth Caroline, Eugene Verdot (my ancestor), Henry Strachey, & Martha Burwell. Three other children were born to this couple, Marie (died in her early teens), Claude, and another nameless son. Francois had at least 3 sons and one daughter. ALL of the sons were doctors, as was he, and a grandson served with distinction as a General at Waterloo.
I am also looking for descendants of a son ( DR. Claudius MASTIN) of Elizabeth LEVERT and her husband, Francis Turner MASTIN,who became the recipient of most of the LEVERT/VERNON/METCALFE/STRACHEY family history from his grandmother , Anne Lee METCLAFE LEVERT. He resided in Huntsville, AL, where he died in the late 1800's.

I don't know if anyone's still looking for CT Levertys. Here's additional info to my earlier post:

Irish immigrants John Laverty (b. 1813) and Ellen (Rowe) Laverty (b. 1815) are found in the 1850 Bpt, CT census. With their CT-born children twins Michael and Mary (b. 1838), my gg-grand James (b.1840), Alexander (b.1842), Ellen Elizabeth (b. 1845), Edward (b. 1850), Sarah, and John (b. 1847). By the next census, their name has changed to Leverty. OR, quite plausibly, that first census could be a census-taker's error. At any rate, their being in the US by 180 predates the Famine.

We have lost our grandmother! We don't have any idea who she might be. She was married to John Trout in route from NJ to OH circa 1790, John is known to have been in NJ,PA,KY and OH during the span of 1789-1792 when son Peter was born supposedly in KY. Peter and wife were very strict in nameing their children for family members in the old scotch tradition. They named 1st son John Levert and thier only daughter Phebe, neither are family names. and we find no Levert ties what so ever. We think grandma's name was Phebe Levert. can anyone help? Do you know of a Levert being in that area at that time? Thanks.
