Thomas Levens (Levins) Ireland

Classification: Query
Surnames: Levins, Levins, Clark
I am seeking information on the family of my gr gr grandfather Thomas Levens (Levins). I'm not sure if the spelling used to be Levins or not. He was born in Ireland in 1830 or 32. According to census records he came to this country in 1850. I know nothing of where he came from in Ireland or his family. He married a Jane Clark in the U.S.
I assume that he probably landed in New York City as his oldest son Thomas, was born in New York state, November 10, 1852, unknown city. The rest of the children, John b-12-25-1858, Peter, b-July 04, 1861 and Mary Elizabeth, b-April 1857, were born in Lockport, Illinois. Thomas' wife Jane died in childbirth in 1863 according to Catholic church records. At some point, Thomas remarried and he and the boys ended up in Kansas. Mary died July 04, 1876 in Illinois.
I located a Thomas Levens (Levins)from Ireland, arriving on a ship, the Excelsior, in New York City on July 03, 1850, from Liverpool, age 20, which would be about right. Although I'm uncertain if it's him.
He died in Kansas in 1906.
I know that there were some Levins in County Louth but I don't know if they are connected or not. This is all I know of him.
Any help anyone can give with this would be greatly appreciated.
