It has been a long time since you posted but iI am tracing my Lewellyn ancester. Do you still have the photo? Does the Joe Lewellyn look like he has a lot of Indian in him? The main reason I am wondering if these may belong to my Lewellyn is because the name is spelled the same. Most of the time the last name is spelled a little different. You could E-Mail me a copy if you still have it. floydbarbgrisham@peoplepc.com Thank you if you still have it.

In an Idaho second-hand shop i found a bunch of old, mostly unidentifiable photos. But one did say on the back "Grandma Sipworth's sister - Maude & Joe Lewellyn." A young man and a pretty girl, probably in their twenties, taken 1890-1900 I'd guess. No clue to where it was taken. If this bunch of names means something to you, get in touch and I'll send you the photo. Write to me privately, using "boise at well dot com"

Hello! Can you help me solve this puzzle? I am looking for the ancestors of Lera Isabell Lewallen, or other spellings of this surname. She was born 4 Aug 1901 Heidnerhemier, TX; died August 1984 mount Pleasant, Titus, TX. Lera married Claude Elmer Wood about 1921 and they lived around Bell Co, TX. I have tried for about 3 years to find info on Sherman, but it was like he dropped of the face of the earth. I remember Aunt Mabel a little, but I cannot remember anyone else, other than my grandmother, (Sherman's wife, Laura). Would you be willing to share your info on LR with me. If not, can you steer me in the right direction? Was LR's name Reece Sherman Lewellyn? If that's the case, then I have been looking under his middle name.

It's wonderful to know that we still have family out there! Please email me soon.
Lewellyn Reece Sherman was my grandfather... Charles Lewellyn was my Uncle Lew... daughter Mabel was known to me as Aunt Duda... L.R. had about ten other children, my father was next to youngest, Howard Leroy... seems as though I remember a Marilyn somewhere, were you Aunt Duda's daughter ?? anyway, have traced L.R.'s heritage back to the Quakers in early 1700 Pennsylvania, and looking now into German ancestry from the original surname Schaarmann... I believe I remember you, Marilyn, from long ago, and I'm sure my mother would know exactly who you are... drop me a line...
Lewellyn's of Genesee County, New York

After three years of searching, the family has been found. They lived in Bergen, Genesee County, New York. The first to the area was Lewis, who married Elizabeth Gerhardt. They had 13 children. One of those 13 children was Levi, who married Maria Ward, took over the two farms in Bergen when Lewis no longer could. Later, one of his sons, Clarence Lewellyn who married Nettie Tompkins, was the last to run the farms in Bergen. With this, I was able to find my grandmother, Effie Lewellyn who had married James LeRoy Smith.
Just returned from a trip to the area where much information was found. Also, a visit to the Mt. Rest Cemetery in Bergen where the family plots are located.
If anyone would be interested in what I have found, please feel free to e-mail me.
There are many collateral names as well, with most having been from the same area.
leta.sheaffer@verizon.net
Leta
Hi, I am in search of my paternal grandmother. Her name is Effie Llewellyn and I believe she was born in Batavia, New York maybe between 1881 and 1886. She married James Leroy Smith of Washington, DC and had two children, Leta Llewellyn and James Arthur Smith, my father.
I believe she died in Washington, DC about 1911 or a few years later.
Any info regardling this would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone has some new links for finding info on the Llewellyn name in Batavia, NY, please write.

Thanks, Pat

Lewellyn's of Bergen, Genesee Co., N.Y.

I have much information on the Lewellyn's who lived in Bergen, Genesee County, New York. Also, have pictures of many. My search started with my grandmother, Effie Mae (Lewellyn) Smith. From there it just snowballed. The original Lewellyn was Lewis Thomas Lewellyn, and he had arrived from Wales. There are many various spellings of Lewellyn, so don't be fooled. I would be more then happy to exchange information to anyone who may have connections to this family.
Leta

I am searching information on Alf Lewellyn who left east Texas ( Hill or Vanzandt counties) went to Archer City, TX. with the Moorhead, Roberson, and Dugan family members about 1890. I found a reference to him in an old letter stating he was the Uncle of Samuel Sentell Moorhead. I realize the term 'Uncle" was sometimes used as a term of respect and not necessarily kinship . Does this ring any bells for anyone ?
