Your message is interesting. We have some points of agreement, and some which don't seem to agree.
I believe Samuel to be born about 1730-1740. He was witnessing deeds in 1766, thus he had to be of age then.
He did have a son Charles Lewis (there were quite a few Charleses in Pitt. Co.) I have his son Charles marrying Mary Ann High. In 1808 there is an entry in Deed Book 19, pg 334, Pitt Co, that say "Mary Ann Lewis, widiow and relict of Charles Lewis, deceased, to Pleasant Lewis, Larkin Lewis, Jeremiah Lewis, and Anne Lewis, children of said Mary Ann and Charles, 108 acres." This does not mean that this Charles did not have a son named Charles, but I can not show it at this point.
I show the same children for Samuel as you do. I did not have the birthdays for all of them, where did you get them. Also, how do you know that Samuel was 61 when he died? I figure he had to be at least 18 when he witnessed a deed action in 1776. This would have made his birthday at least as early as 1748. He died in 1823, this would have made him at least 75.
The was a will for a Charles Lewis proven on 19 Oct 1805 naming a Charles as a son. I don't know which Charles that is.
Just looking at the dates of Samuel's children which you show, Charles' date seems too late. Samuel would have been (by the earlier calculations) a minimum of 50. That is ok, but his wife would have been pretty close to that also, assuming that Plotemia was his only wife, and I have found no other to this point. Most likely your Charles is from another line.
There is a Charles Lewis (b. 1805) son of Charles Lewis of the Bird, and others.
I go the Halifax Co. and Pitt. County periodically. If you have a particular item you would like me to check when I go there I would be delighted to do so for you.
I would like to know your sources for the birthdates of Samuel's children.
We are probably related, but I am not sure that it is Samuel's son Charles that relates us. But then again, I am not sure he isn't. This is like a giant Jig Saw puzzle.
Let me know if I can help you.
